Ya, the Prodigy case is CRAZY BIG for a mini-ITX case. There are a variety of smaller micro-ATX cases (let alone mini-ITX cases). If there was a "Mini Prodigy" I'd consider it. I want a small mini-ITX case that looks like a shrunken Mac Pro for a Hackintosh project, but the BitFenix Prodigy is...
MUCH better face. The current face of the "stock" case is so fugly.
Judging by that mod, it seems like it wouldn't take much of a manufacturing change for Silverstone to improve the look of the front of the case. (Then we could all stop whining about it. :) )
I wish the Silverstone rep would chime in on this. Obviously there is demand for an SG05 in something other than black.
Right now, at least in North America, the SG05 is like the Model T Ford -- any color you want, as long as it's black. :)
I'm hoping someone from Silverstone can chime in here. :)
I noticed on the Silverstone web site that there is a model number for a white SG05 with USB3. The model number is SST-SG05W-USB3.0. A Google shopping search turns up no vendors. Is this a real product?

Where did you get that black I/O shield? (At least, it looks black in your photos, or maybe dark gray, perhaps a trick of the light?). Anyway, I've never seen one like that before. Did it come with the motherboard? Thx!
BTW, very nice build. Looking to do something similar myself someday...
That's cool, although it will be hard to shove a micro atx board into this mini-itx case. :D
But srsly it would be nice if BitFenix made a micro-ATX version that was just a skoshe bigger.
...which is interesting since the mini-ITX BitFenix Prodigy is also larger than the micro-ATX Fractal Design Core 1000 in width and height and about the same in depth (Prodigy handles take up space). The Prodigy is also close in size to the Lian Li PC-V354.
The Prodigy is a nice case but it's...
Nice work!
Agreed. I've had to cut metal on every Lian Li case I've owned (3 cases in 7 years) for one reason or another, most recently I cut the drive cage in half in my PC-V354.
^^^ I agree with this. :)
If anyone from SilverStone is reading this thread, it's clear that we want to love this case for many practical reasons, but the aesthetics of the case just don't do it for us.
The fact that people are actually redesigning the case and posting the designs in this...
Good point, hadn't thought that some folks might put this small case under their desk. I like your idea of a way to optionally re-route the cables from the top out the bottom, or just route them out the top.
To me, this is the kind of case you put on your desk so people can admire it, not hide...
There are various soft sided cooler bags at places like Walmart and at camping stores, perhaps one of those will be a match?
Seems like it would only take 30 seconds with a ruler to measure the interior dimensions of Da Box bag, but I guess the Lan Gear guys aren't interested in potential sales...
Fair enough, different strokes and all that. :) I personally think it looks like a wilted plant with those dangling cables from the top of the case.
What I was getting at, though, was that this conceptually similar case design (image link) is more user-friendly than the FT03-Mini. In this case...
Thanks for the review. This would be my #1 choice for my next build if it had space for a dual slot video card like the SilverStone SG05 has.
Or go with the brand new Lian Li PC-Q18, which happens to fit up to a 340mm / 13 inch video card...
I have a Lian Li V354 and a Fractal Design Core 1000. Both are great cases at different prices. Personally I always throw away and replace all the stock fans with Gentle Typhoons or Noiseblockers so I don't care about stock fans, but YMMV.
PROS
* The Lian Li V354 is prettier, and the bare...
Why didn't they make the SG09 look more like the beautiful SG08? One can only hope that Silverstone comes out with an SG10 that beautifies the SG09 (just as the SG08 beautifies the SG07).
I'd like to see a version of the FT03-Mini that has all of its cables coming out the bottom. That's my only gripe with this otherwise awesome case. The case is gorgeous and world-class until you notice the various cables dangling out the top. :(
Add me to the list of folks anxiously waiting for...
It's very nice, but I still like the Lian Li PC-Q18 better due to the fact that the Q18 can accommodate a full size DVD-ROM in addition to its 140mm fans and ATX power supply.
The Lian Li is bigger than the Node 304, but it's still reasonably compact -- about 2 Coke cans tall. The Lian Li can...
Looks like a great case. I also have a PC-V354 as well, and this one looks better. It seems strange they are "strangling" the two front fans by providing such a small intake area. I suspect that a few half-inch holes drilled across the bottom of the case very close to the front will provide...
Actually according to EVGA's web site (note: PDF file) the EVGA GTX 570 HD is 9 inches (23 cm) long, not 9.5 inches.
Just wanted to set the record straight since that extra half inch makes a big difference in some of the smaller cases out there, such as a Mini-ITX case like mine (Lian Li...
My case got here today, and since nobody replied to my post above, I'm answering the question from my own post. :)
With the bottom bracket removed, the room below the video card is 1.75" (45 mm). That's if you're using a double-slot video card, of course. A single slot video card will give...
Hi, I don't have my Q11 yet and I'm trying to plan the components for my build, and could use some help please. I'm looking for the distance from the bottom of the case to the bottom of a double-slot video card. The photo below shows the area I'm talking about. (I'll be removing the hard...
