    Drivebender is out

Has anyone taken Driver Bender for a serious trip? Is it considered "safe" for production use yet? Is WHS2011 finally where it should have been from the start?

    Is my integrated LSI-controller dead?

Nah...not that big a bummer really. Got it very cheap, so it was a calculated risk :) Nevertheless, it would be fun if I got it to work! I've been through the BIOS many many times, so I'm pretty sure that everything is ok there. I've also tried to reset and re-flash the BIOS multiple times. I...

    Is my integrated LSI-controller dead?

Yes, the controller is detected, but it cannot be started. It fails with a warning that the card cannot be reset. Disks attached to the controller is not detected, and is also not listed at startup (BIOS/POST screen).

    Is my integrated LSI-controller dead?

Hi! I bought an OEM Tyan S2915-E (from an XW9400 workstation) off eBay, accepting the risks as it was sold "as is". The board works perfectly, except I can't get the onboard LSI 1068E adapter to work. I've tried re-flashing it with new firmware/BIOS (sasflash), but all attempts fail with the...

Testing ZFS RAID-Z performance with 4K sector drives

I must admit that I have not read this entire thread, but I was wondering if I would encounter any problems with a raid-z with 2 512b sector drives and 3 4k sector drives (5 drives total)?

OpenSolaris derived ZFS NAS/ SAN (OmniOS, OpenIndiana, Solaris and napp-it)

Thanks, I know about the *Solaris *BSD alternatives, but I want to use Linux. I'll keep an eye on the progress. Might go for Amahi anyway.

Does anyone have experience with the ZFS Linux port (http://kqstor.com/)? Is it "production ready"?

    Which Blue-ray player?

No, but the media capabilities was mentioned by others, so I felt it was relevant information. It would certainly affect my decision.

    Which Blue-ray player?

Cinavia is a watermark within the audio track of movies. The watermark is detected by Cinavia enabled players (such as the PS3), and will mute the audio or stop the playback when the watermark is detected and the playback medium is not "authorized" (your rips). There's a lot of discussions over...

    Which Blue-ray player?

Except the PS3 is infected with Cinavia, so you can't actually play back your rips (with Cinavia) on it... (yeah, I'm aware of the "workarounds")

    ION vs H55/H67 for HTPCing

Yup... Sandy Bridge doesn't handle 23.976 fps (aka true 24p), and never will.

    ION vs H55/H67 for HTPCing

What on earth are you guys doing with your IONs since they are so shitty? Mine works perfectly well... :)

    ION vs H55/H67 for HTPCing

Well, if you don't care about correct 24p playback, then it should be a nice upgrade for you.

    ION vs H55/H67 for HTPCing

What problems are you experiencing? I'm using an ION and Celeron ULV combination (Zotac ION-ITX-P) without problems. Don't have neither a Clarkdale nor Sandy Bridge to compare with, and don't intend to get one due to the 24p bug.

    SATA2 HBA Comparison (non-RAID)

I asked about a Solaris driver for the 1300ix-16 some time ago, and yesterday, I got an email that said to test a new Solaris driver. Since I don't have the card, I can't test it. But I was hoping that someone that does had tested it.

Anyone tested the ARC-1300ix-16 with the new Solaris driver (I assume it's a beta version)?

    ASUS P7F-E -- 14 sata port i5 board!

I'm just a newbie, but I believe several Asus motherboards have this feature, but it requires an extra Asus PIKE sata/sas-controller to utilize the extra 8 ports.
