I was having trouble oc'ing my w3520 because of this asus throttling crap...
Just cross-flashed version 0006 to my p6t deluxe v2...worked like a charm! Now happily stress testing at 4.5Ghz :D Thank you so much for the link...that throttling was really beginning to piss me off.
I ran my last 920 24/7 at around 85C for over 9 months straight without a problem...I'm sure the processor would have lived beyond it's usefulness, but I just bought a xeon so I sold it...
I have a xeon w3520 I just bought running between 4.4Ghz and 4.5Ghz (still trying to get 4.5Ghz 100%...
So,
I just recently bit the bullet and bought the components for my new liquid cooling system:
Pump: Adjustable speed MCP-655
CPU Block: ApogeeXT
Radiator: MCR420
...Now first off, I know that a quad radiator is overkill for a single processor...but, I bought this radiator with the...
So...
I work at a grocery store...Publix is the name of the chain...really great company, anyway...
I was gathering some of my old lotto tickets I had laying around...I thought they were all losers because I usually check them and was going to throw them out...For some reason I thought...
Wooo! 6 Million- just replaced my 920 with a w3250- hopefully it'll help me rack up them points a little quicker :D...As soon as I can find an overclock I'm happy with!
I thought this contest just *might* peak the interest of our fellow DC members and thought I would post the link for you guys...
http://blogs.amd.com/work/2010/03/03/48-cores-contest/
....Gee, I wonder what any of us would do with it :D...Would love to see the frame times on that bad boy!
As long as there are guides to enable multi-GPU folding, I am definitely interested :)...I'm not very linux fluent, but have worked with it enough to feel comfortable giving this a shot.
Also, I think it would be a good idea to include a few utilities to test system stability...Anyway, good...
Here's what I would buy for a gaming rig if money wasn't an object...I'd probably stay away from the dual processor idea just because it's not going to offer any benefit for gaming...anyway, here goes:
Processor: Xeon w3520 -This can be easily overclocked to 4Ghz++...even with an unlimited...
The new version of VMware Player, 3.0.1, will not power up using 8 cpus- Just out of curiosity I disabled hyper-threading to see how/if it affects my frame times...Will post when I have results.
First off, Welcome to the club buddy :)...btw, your UI looks great...checking out rainmeter now- thanks a bunch :)
I would guess your stats id will probably show up within 24 hours...I think most of use the EOC page for checking stats which can be found here...
I just noticed my cards are finally picking up new work units, and two were returned successfully...However one of my remote pc's running the A3 units is still having trouble picking up a new work unit.
So I've searched around the forum and google, and am having a hard time coming up with a definitive answer, so I thought I would ask here :)
I'm using windows 7, and just got my first ssd- an intel x25-m 80g generation2 hard drive...My PC runs folding@home 24x7, which equates to it using a...
Yeah using Win7...It's not power settings...and it's only happened once while I was at my computer...no blue screen or anything, and it's happened with my processor at stock settings as well...
I think it's just the fact that my poor little 5-6 year old UPS sometimes switches to battery power...
I should be there soon...for some reason my pc has been powering off about about once every 3 days...I think it's cause my UPS is shot, guess I'll just live with the point loss until I can afford a new one
Fold on! :D
I just thought I would add this info to help people with reference :)...
I don't have my kill-a-watt plugged in anymore, but my new UPS shows an average of 600-700 watts (depending on work units) with:
23" Monitor
[email protected]
2 Nvidia GTX 260s w/ shaders @ 1600Mhz
5 hard drives
3 fans
I...
I'm using a push pull config with the fan that it came with and a scythe I had laying around...I just checked my temps now and they're around 80-83 at 4.1Ghz- I'm going to attempt a 4.2Ghz while the weather is cooler than normal ...I actually have the radiator sitting on the back of my Antec...
I've always had a habit of dialing up my system to 11 :)...with my i7, I've cranked it up to 4.1Ghz so far...and I'm happy with that...As far as I'm concerned, if it's not throttling, it's not overclocked enough!...Well, I do try to stay just under the throttle threshold ;)
live [H]ard!
Im using one and it allowed me to hit 4050Mhz on my i7...runs high 80s, but its ran for weeks without a crash due to overclocking...I think people worry too much about high temps on the i7, even if I cut the processor life in half by running it this hot, it will still outlive it's usefulness :)
Ditto...I also used to use that bigadv linux distribution that was posted on one of the other forums...I found that if I ever shut it down that it would trash the work unit, I have since switched to ubuntu and haven't had any problems shutting down and restarting it, but I usually just try to...
haha...I was having some problems for a while there with my overclock...finally got it 100% stable by boosting the QPI voltage quite a bit...now I'm getting 31-34 minute frame times depending on if I'm using my pc or not :)
Fold on!
I don't run them at 1700 24/7....I have them running at 1600Mhz now and they've never crashed at that speed...if I were to run a game on them running at that speed they would most likely crash
While I don't post that often, I do read quite often...I would just like to take a 2 minute timeout and point out the fact that Tigerbiten is the fucking man.
That is all.
Are they core 216s?...I've run these babys at 1700Mhz for 4 days straight when I wasn't home....but they crash when running windows Aero if I am heavily using my pc :(...I find I can run the card NOT running my display to 1 step higher than the one that is...
here is the card I'm using...
This man is correct :)
check this thread for some screenshots of my 2 gtx260s...EVGA core 216s...They fold beautifully :)...I currently run them with the shaders@1584Mhz, I do not run them in SLI, and I do not game with them...I'm guessing if I tried to a game with the shaders at that speed...
RDP screws with the display drivers of your folding graphics card(s) and will cause your folding clients to crash 100% of the time...I learned this on my first trip away from home where I was trying to monitor my remote pc.... Since then, I started using logmein, and I will never turn back...
