I upgraded my storage system for my WHS so I no longer need my drobo pro.
It's this one: http://www.drobo.com/products/drobopro/index.php
I purchased it in May of '09 and comes with the rackmount kit but no hard drives.
Asking $950 shipped US paypal only.
I switched my HT case to a smaller one and picked up the slim version of this card and no longer need this non-slim version.
PCIE card + extension card + connector ribbon cable + breakout cables shown in original box. I'll toss in a short hdmi cable but it's not the original.
Asking $150...
I'm no longer using my visiontek 4870x2 (upgraded to 5870) so it's for sale. I put the Accelero Xtreme cooler on it the day I got it and used it for many months. Works perfectly, little dusty. I can provide the original cooler along with it. No box, no manual, nothing but the card with AC cooler...
Probably not really gone, yet, but no one orders from them anymore since the x25-m fiasco.
My Raven2 came the same way, one of the four thumbscrews was inside and actually under the fans, annoying and odd. Wonder if it was the same thumbscrew, not that I remember which one it was exactly.
Weird. I've never spoken with them but we order a ton of stuff from them, specially since newegg is gone, and it's been great. They even changed an item description for me once so I could order it.
Sorry but the new auto sorting is a money and time saving blessing. I used to have to remote into display systems for one reason and one reason only, to continually refresh a file window so people could find newly created files they are looking for. Now I rarely have to remote into those systems...
Hmmm, no, I think there's another reason. It really sounds to me like this is someone with technet access, or very wealthy so the $100 for WHS can't be the problem.
On that hardware, server 2008 will choke to death, 2003 would work but it's such a hassle anymore.
What's the hotswapping all...
Hardware raid is more for performance while software is less expensive. For home file serving, software is fine. On the other hand, whs duplication is generally good enough for documents, music, and whatnot and not required for videos since the physical disks are your backup.
Personally I'm...
1. Can't help you there. I only use intel, adaptec, and areca.
2. WHS seems to work quite well but I've not had to recover from a crash yet.
3. I don't know about 3ware controllers but I have personally attached raid5 and raid0 arrays to newer controllers of the same brand without issues...
