Do these drives come with the 3-year warranty you would get with the OEM or retail drive? Or would you need to send in the complete unit, including the case, to get warranty replacement?
My best overclock has definitely been been my Intel E8400 which has run all its life at 430*10 (4.3GHz) at a very modest voltage on a Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P motherboard. Have never pushed it beyond 4.3 but I am sure it will go further without much effort. It is still running strong although it...
I have had good luck with WD Black drives for desktop usage and Seagate Enterprise drives (currently branded as Ironworlf Pro) for NAS storage. Have also used a few WD Red Pro and WD Red drives, but not that many.
Rebates are not necessarily scams. I receive a vast majority of the rebates I submit, but I also follow the instructions carefully.
A 750W Gold rated PSU appears to be a good deal on the surface, but there are a lot of complaints about this unit at newegg. I would stick with the Seasonic.
Amazon will not hold you at fault. But if you go after too many scam baits and file too many claims, they may ban your account. It's not a perfect world.
But you missed the point I was trying to make. While we do sometimes get a deal that looks too good to be true, most of the "deals" you see...

If you really believe you might get a new, $700 part for $200 from a brand new seller with zero feedback from halfway around the world, I have a bridge to sell you in Charleston. Cost $960,000,000 to...
The missing pin on the splitter cable is the one that reports the rpm value. The fan port on the motherboard can only read only one rpm signal, thus the pin is absent from one of the splitter cable ports. If the fans are identical it shouldn't matter which fan sends the rpm signal, they will...
But it will still be a hassle to get in touch with Amazon and file a A-Z claim to get your money back.
I have been seeing a lot of this crap at Amazon lately. A $1,000 item is listed for sale for $350 and the seller has just launched his account and has zero feedback. Its a scam, and you are...
I will probably pick up a Samsung 950Pro one of these days. I doubt it will be faster than a ramdisk for my specific application, but it will certainly be a step up for the OS. and other applications I use.
True. But this is [H], and sometimes we do things because we can, not necessarily because they are practical or cost effective.
I bought the ram on sale at newegg for about $425, by the way.
I have 128GB in my workstation now, and I typically allocate 80GB to a RAM disk when I am working on photo editing. I keep the Adobe Lightroom catalog and imported files on the RAM disk and this significantly improves the usability with things like generating previews in real time.
The P2 and T2 line eVGA units are some of the best power supplies you can buy today. I have a 1200P2 in one of my gaming rigs and it has been flawless. Check the reviews on jonnyguru, newegg and amazon and you will find they are consistently rated amongst the best.
I don't usually buy power supplies at this pricepoint. If I wanted something in the 650W range I would probably be looking at a unit from eVGA or Seasonic with a 80plus Gold or better efficiency and 100% Japanese caps (about $60 to 80 when on sale). This particular unit is non-modular, has 9...
The unit being sold on newegg has reviews dating from 2006 to 2009. I am guessing someone is getting rid of new old stock. $35 for a unit designed 10 years ago doesn't seem that hot to me either.
I like the inexpensive Cougar 120mm fan 4-packs you can pick up for $6 or so per fan. Haven't tried any of their 140mm offerings yet, but going by my experience, those should be very good as well.
I have a couple you might be interested in:
Corsair AX1200i: Like new (just a few months old), plugged in once to make sure it works. $225 shipped
eVGA 1000 PS: Like new (less than a year old), used for a few months in my HTPC. $150 shipped
PM me if you are interested.
My 5930k / Asus Sabertooth X99 drives 128GB just fine. I'm using 8x16GB DDR4 2400 Crucial memory and I can still overclock my CPU to 4.5GHz at 1.19V. You will need to update your BIOS to a version that supports 16GB dimms.
You could pick up a 4 pack of the Cougar 140mm fans for about $30 shipped. I have used both the 120 and 140mm variations and have been very happy with the results. Good airflow, and very quiet even at full speed.
