Dell Venue 8 Pro Tablet 32GB(Full Win 8.1) $185, likely LESS [Refurbished w/warranty]

I agree you get what you pay for. But for sub-$185 it is a pretty good deal and this is a well-received budget 8" tablet. Once the next gen intel CPUs come out this is destined for major price drops, but if you are in the market now this is a hard to beat deal.

Should I get laptop or tablet for newbie Aunt?

my vote is tablet. If shes never used a computer she has a lot to learn anyway, and tablet might be a slightly simpler and cheaper starting point

Thoughts on the Dell Venue 11?

I think you need to decide on your form factor first. Jumping from a 7" to 11" tablet is a huge change - have you looked at any larger tablets in person in a store?

Should I hold off till the 4th to buy hardware?

Not sure about the 4th, but microcenter's $190 i5 3570k and $50 off mobo combo is pretty hard to beat. I just picked up these for $300: http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0388577 http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0387556 That's...

$1200 gaming build w/ivy bridge - close to buying, need input

Just updated my original post with the latest parts. I took Danny Bui's advice, switched to the cooler master HAF 912 case, the TX 650 V2 PSU, the non-EVO Hyper 212, and the cheaper RAM. I am not too sure about the HGST drive, I am a little apprehensive based on a lot of reviews saying DOA...

    Gaming Build $1000-$1200

You can take a look at my thread too, it is on the upper end of your price range and doesn't include windows 7 but you can shave a few bucks here and there. My build isn't finalized, but its a thread you can keep an eye on if its helpful to you.

$1200 gaming build w/ivy bridge - close to buying, need input

Thanks, I think I'll stick with my mobo as I like some of the extra features. I just updated my original post, changing the power supply based on a recommendation in another thread. It's $10 more but looks like a safer bet. Now I just need to find out if my ram is worth $60 or if I should get...

$1200 gaming build w/ivy bridge - close to buying, need input

Yeah our builds are pretty similar. I actually snagged the samsung SSD at $90 yesterday :) Not sure what the difference is between our two mobos, yours is cheaper so I may switch to that one. The ram i chose is slightly more money, but the CAS timings are 8. Not sure if its worth it or not.

    sound proofing/dampening TV

I have a TV in my room which is up against a wall that borders with my roommate's room. The TV is not wall mounted so there is some space behind it. I really don't want to reconfigure my room since I really like the layout, but I don't want to bother my roommate with the noise of my TV. I am...

Help with i5 budget gaming build

Thanks for your comments. In reply: 1. the $210 price I agree is too much, but it has a $40 rebate and $15 off promo code so its actually $155. But if power consumption is high then I will definitely switch to 460. 2. Any suggestion for a similar case in the $50 range? 3. I will look for a...

my new card (GTX 260) fan does not power on. My old card (7950GT) fan DOES power on. so I'm not convinced its psu related. I'll follow the bench test guide and report back. I've tried switching how the LED wires are placed and they never light up. I have them set up the exact same as the...

$700ish quad core build for gaming

yes it worked out well in my case. I was dead set on an intel when i started this thread. I wouldn't touch an X2 proc with a 10 foot pole...however I didn't know about the new phenom II procs. Since they are recommended here a lot on [H] plus I read some positive reviews on them, I'm willing...

    new build - 3D work, tv/movies - minor gaming

If your 3D rendering apps run on openGL I would recommend nvidia over ATI. Also, not sure how prices compare with US over in czech republic but if possible I'd get the phenom II X4. The 4 cpu cores should speed up your rendering considerably over an X2.

$700ish quad core build for gaming

i agree with you there. I didn't order any sort of DVD drive/burner. All of the sub $30 burners are OOS on newegg. I have other computers with dvd burners so I'll just wait till its in stock to order.

    Yet another mini-ITX build...

I think you have a good start. A couple concerns though...you want this to be a powerful gaming machine. That GTS 250 card is huge, and might not fit in that case. Also, you might run into problems with the PSU since its likely low quality and not too high wattage. It might not be able to...

    Can I Upgrade This Computer?

just curious. what makes the BFG PSU a better deal? I guess this system wouldn't need 650W...however theres a $10 off promo code for the EA650: Maypsu10 that makes it $65 from newegg, and also means you're getting all your parts from a single place (if that matters to you)
