it's half off on some sites today. so I took the plunge and just fired it up under dx9 to start with. even if the dx11 is busted right now, it's easily worth the $25.
i just got a G74 BB7 from best buy on a clearance. I wanted something more portable for LANs. I used it a one this weekend. Rock solid. It was the first time I've ever felt like I wasn't cheated by gaming on a laptop. For the price, it was unbeatable. I was considering Sager and MSI as...
I used to use an otterbox and they are great cases. I switched to a white lifeproof for my 4S. It's less bulky that the otter box, so you can actually still put it in your pocket pretty easily. On the otter boxes, I usually cut out the built in screen protector because I hated the air...
Did you play through borderlands? I am primarily an FPS gamer. I don't have the patience or time for RPG's, but Borderlands was like crack for me. Definitely got my moneys worth on that game before even touching co-op with friends.
I'm one of those people that have been on the fence about upgrading things on my pc. i opted for the gpu first, and now I'm looking at the I5/I7. I'm leaning towards I7 simply because having the extra kick can't hurt and I am seeing now that I will be doing more with my pc than just gaming.
if it's a dual core and 2 gigs of ram, I'd say that is good for WoW. I gave one of my friends my old 6800gt for his sempron setup to run WoW. It works. So I think you would be in good shape with the cards that were previously recommended.
system specs would help. odds are if your friend is less than ambitious, I'd consider checking to see if his any areas, especially the heatsinks on the cpu/gpu are clogged with dust...
If you are deadset on the 400 series, I'd hold off for a bit and see if the GTX460 shows up and ends up being worthwhile. It might be a better fit for your needs.
One of my friends recently purchased an LG that has the Netflix streaming. Router was in the room, so we just ran it through ethernet. Picture quality was great. I don't like leaving the PS3 on for extended periods of times. The advantage of the PS3 over a normal blu ray player (aside from...
I wouldn't swap out 2 5850's for one 5870. Are you having issues running crossfire? Even a refresh likely won't give you a worthwhile upgrade from what you have.
Ya know, he hasn't come back yet...I figured by now there would at least be something from him. Maybe even a mobile update...Perhaps he turned it on and it just created a blackhole. Anyone know where he lives? Maybe there is a time capsule from the future..."System runs great guys! See ya in...
I played the demo, but wasn't sold enough to by the game. I used to play the first one a lot with buddies at LAN's, but the second one just didn't make it into the rotation.
480 is going to trump a 470 for sure performance wise. for me, I didn't think the extra money was worth it. i'd rather grab a 470 now, then another once they hit price drops similar to the way 260's did and then SLI them once I upgrade my cpu/mobo...
I would go with a single more powerful card, because if you up the rest of the system in the near future, you are going to feel the need to replace those 5770's. I'm running a single gtx 470 with my Q6600 and it handles pretty much everything. I'd get something with DX11 features too. I'd...
Sn1PeR, you should definitely be getting better performance than that. I run GTAIV on my setup. The only real difference in our setups is that you have 5870 and I have a 470. Below are my benchmark results. MY CPU is not overclocked. I had been advised to turn clip capture off when running...
Both are great games.
TF2 is basically cartoonish FPS fun. It low system requirements compared to BFBC2.
One thing that always gets me is when I go from playing bouts of games like COD and BFBC2 or pretty much any other shooter, is zooming...in the TF2 game, it doesn't exist unless you...
I'm not sure of the revision I have on my CPU. It's one of the early Q6600...can't hurt to check it...lol I had purchased the cpu/mobo/mem off a buddy of mine a year and a half ago for $300 bucks because he had an itchy trigger finger for a new setup. It was leaps and bounds over my old X2...
Ok, so I recently swapped out my GTX285 for a GTX470. It was definitely an improvement in quality of play for me. My motherboard supports sli only. I'm running my Q6600 at stock speeds. Here is where my debate is. Right now gaming as is, things are great, but I'm wondering if a second card...
the more important question is...do you like the card :) I put mine in just in time for a nice LAN party that one of my buddies was having. I gamed like 14 hours straight on it...and it didn't crash once. now i'm going to sell off my 285. im definitely glad I picked one up.
What's wrong with 0% for 6 months. It doesn't mean they do not have the money. He could be waiting for for the sale of his other card for all we know. Some people just prefer to take advantage of offers like that.
I picked up one PNY 470's at a Best Buy in West Hartford, CT. a few hours ago. They weren't on the shelves, but they had them. I had a 10% off rewards coupon so, it brought it down a little.
I have a q6600 running stock with a gtx285 and it handles everything I throw at it at, but I am gaming at 1680*1050. Not sure what would happen at a higher res...well in my case, I do...the monitor would give me the finger and probably go blank. I think the Q6600 is still a solid cpu.
I got my Q6600 off a buddy who upgraded to an I7 setup about a year or so ago...really is an awesome cpu. I figure I should get another year or two out of it, depending on how it handles games.
I'm with Tbird87 on this. I would just throw some ram into it...I noticed a hefty difference on my Q6600 when I went from 2 gigs of mediocre ram to 4 gigs of good ram...
I purchased the game. I played COD4 on Xbox then converted to PC, and decided ultimately to do this one on PC as well.
Single Player - did about an hour. It's fun...just like COD4 was. Graphics look better. Some very disturbing moments for sure.
Multi-player - played for about 2...
it's crazy what we can go through to save a card or other hardware for that matter. at what point does one decide the time invested is more valuable than the amount of money it would cost to simply replace it. I have a geforce 3, a 9700pro and I think a 6800 kicking around here. You can have...
I agree with most of this. I think you should definitely aim for something with more than 512 megs. And make sure you have the PSU to run it.
As far as importance in respect to options once you have a card, my preference varies a little. I go with (most to least) Resolution, Textures...
IMO, a 4850 would struggle at 1920*1200. I was running one on my Q6600 (and on a 3800+x2 before that) and it rocked at 1680*1050 for the most part. Every once in awhile, I would have to back down the AA on games. It is A LOT nicer than what you have got, but it won't be smooth as butter at...
