The Thing is...i have both the 4870X2 and a 2600XT that people crossfired, even though i know i wont get any gains, its just fun...experimenting...:p

Would testing Crossfire with different architectures ruin any of the cards or the motherboard? for example, trying to Crossfire a 4800 series with a 3800 series, or Crossfire-ing the 3000 and 4000 series "X2" cards...Some people claim to have successfully Crossfired a HD 4870 X2 with a HD 2600...

So your saying that 2 FX-74's would bottleneck a 4870X2? and a Q6800 (which performs almost the same as the FX-74's) wouldnt? this debate is about the graphics card, not on the CPU... Oh and i think it does make a difference, a Q6800 doesnt perform like the QX6800 does, otherwise they would sell...

ok, let me make myself extremely clear... 1) The Core2Duo E8400 is a processor i used in another system, i also underclocked it to 2.66GHz just to be get it to run a little cooler and so the fan can run quieter, how i did it? SpeedStep. Also to use less power, i just underclocked it even more...

I just wanted to know if it was worth buying a 4870X2 for playing games like Crysis/Warhead and Flight Simulator X on resolutions of 1024x768 or 1280x1024? or would a 4870 provide enough performance to run things on max on those resolution?
