Doom 3 works fine on my 5870 with win 7 64bi w/ 10.12 drivers. I dunno, honestly I've never had an issue with amd/ati or nvidia cards working with old games.
That happens with overdrive it interferes with the memory clock speed. Basically flickering happens when the clock speed for the memory changes. Turn off overdrive and just run the card as it was intended and turn off gpu acceleration in flash. Just ignore that other dude he's probably ok with a...
That display should work fine. Like I said just run it at the right resolution and what not. Samsung tvs even have an option called screen fit that dumps the overscan (at least on my tv). That's almost the same tv I have just with an led backlight.
What other software is on the pc e.g. spyware doctor, antivirus software, cc cleaner, you had spyware at some point, some weird pc pit stop software, etc. there is always a software explanation for why a new driver won't work but an old one will. It's definitely not the driver because if it were...
You will have to adjust the overscan/underscan for sure. You will want to set the resolution to the native resolution for the tv, e.g. 1280x720@60hz,1366x768@60hz,1920x1080@30hz,1920x1080@60hz, etc. whatever the tv supports. One thing to keep in mind is don't expect the exact same picture...
You're right to a certain extent, but suddenly the card starts having issues. Then they start contacting the developer of their favorite game. Then their game developer tells them to contact their video card manufacturer who entails says, "Turn down the clocks." Hey OP just ignore me.
Or bring on the issues that magically only start when people overclock. Ocing is cool if only people kept it too themselves. You have people who can barely use ms word but yet want to oc their phat 6970 card to 1ghz clock speed.
For mdp to dvi then I'd use this adapter http://www.amazon.com/Accell-B087B-006B-DisplayPort-Single-Link-Certified/dp/B004071ZXA . It's mdp to dvi and it's active. So run two dvi displays off the 2 dvi ports and then the 3rd off the mdp with the adapter. You must also have vista/7 for the dp to...
Since you have a 5870 (as listed in your sig). Use the adapter found here http://www.amazon.com/Accell-UltraAV-B101B-003B-Display-Adapter/dp/B003HC85D2 . It's dp to vga. Though really I'd recommend http://www.amazon.com/Accell-B087B-005B-DisplayPort-Single-Link-Certified/dp/B004071ZX0 as dp to...
For something like that I'd get an ocz, corsair, pc power and cooling(ocz), enermax, silverstone, etc... A power supply from one of those guys would work. I'd shoot for something around a 1000watt power supply.
The video card stuff is fine, but change out the motherboard? He has a 680i which can take the newer 45 nm dual cores but not the quads. All changing the mobo out would do is yaaaaay ok you can use a q9650 that is "basically" the same performance +/- a few % as your q6600. If hes gonna change...
Heh my bad; must have been crusin through reading what I wanted. If thats the case then if possible try a different card in the system or the card in a different systen and check for same symptoms.
What model video card do you have and are you running vista; i.e. 7900gt or 7900gtx? Oh and that screenshot makes me want to buy tf2 I used to tear it up on tfc; I almost bought it that weekend when orange box was on discount.
Some of the older 7 series cards could have issues in vista; try...
To be honest in my opinion I wouldn't bother upgrading. I would wait until the next round of cards come out either mid summer or end of summer or so. With your system its gonna run just about any game you throw at it. So I wouldn't bother upgrading until the next round is out,
That should work fine. Alternatively you can grab a radeon 4350 card and since it has a hdmi audio chip on it you can run audio to the tv that way. The nvidia cards can pass audio through dvi to hdmi as well but the sound card must support a spd/if cable whereas the readeon cards have an actual...
To be honest if you want the "m3, m5, corvette, evo, sti," etc.. for your video card its gonna be audible. Just like how an m3, corvette, evo, sti, etc.. has bumpy ass suspension and louder exhausts its gonna be loud; for most high end video cards since they create a lot of heat when running 3d...
If its not a slaughter then what would you classify it as? If the two video cards were people then the 280 could always bust in on the 260 no matter what it was doing and kick its ass. Not to mention at real high resolutuions the very "slight" extra memory in the 280 is gonna help out,
For that error message check out http://nvidia.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/nvidia.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=22 and for amd/ati go here http://forums.amd.com/game/messageview.cfm?catid=260&threadid=104677&enterthread=y . Ignore the fact I posted links to both ati/nvidia as the same exact issue...
The 280 is going to slaugher the 260. At some settings the 260 216 core may get close to the 280 but that's it. In most benchmarks the 280 is gonna drag the 260 into a back alley and beat it to death.
That error message can also mean for whatever reason the drivers don't see your video card. It was in a release note a while back where if the driver doesn't support or can't find your card it''ll give you a weird error messsage about the os. Try installing the driver manually through the...
I'm betting they can just mail some out to you. I had a friend recently who lost some cables for his corsair modular power supply and he just called them up and they were able to mail some out.
I'd probably try most of Biskquik recommmdations. To be honest with 2 sticks 4-4-.... might be possible, but with 4 sticks I'd start with some timings like 7-7-7-18. If that is stable then work you're way down one setting at a time, i.e. try 7-6-7-18, if thats stable try 7-6-6-18 if that is...
The dude that said the whole channel thing is motherboard (or cpu if you got one of those cpus that have memory controllers i.e. I7, phenom, etc...) side is correct. Double channel, triple chnnel, etc... All it means is the motherboard(cpu depending on mobo) allows the memory to talk to the...
That does seem fishy. Just so you know a 4870x2 has an 8pin and a 6pin where as a gtx260 has two 6pins. If your power supply were kind of on edge with a 4870x2 it certainly wouldn't be with a gtx 260 because it uses less power.
Even if you didn't have the 4870x2 and only the 4870 its still...
Ya but a system on the edge like that is like building a house in malibu,ca on the edge of a cliff and being surprised when it falls over from a mud slide, the worse thing about that is it happens all the time yet the houses are still built.
However whatever, if the dude builds a system and...
If everything were exact to the dot in the computer world then a gtx 260 would only have a single 6pin connector right? I mean if it only uses 140watts then 75w from the slot and another 75w from the 6pin would equal 150watts, and look 10 watts extra.
A design with such a small margin of...
Oh I dunno about trying to do a 260 off that power supply. The TDP of the 260 is about 180w just the card alone. The TDP on his cpu is 65w. The efficiency on the psu might not be so great. You don't want him having an unstable system.
I would shoot for a card with a single 6pin connector; so...
