Does anyone have a recommendation for a fan to use as an intake? I'd like to find something that will fit in the 5.25 bay. Haven't had much luck finding something that will fit securely.
I've just gotten a new Q6600 installed into my 790i Ultra. After I installed the processor I get a blank screen and the LCD reads 7F. I reset the cmos before installing the processor (and about 4 other times while troubleshooting). I've removed everything except the processor and ram. Also tried...
I can't get it stable above 3.6ghz. It's running at 3.6 @ 1.36v in bios/1.33 in Windows. It will run at 3.825, but I've got to have the vcore at 1.4+. I've got an EVGA 790i ultra.
My thinking is if I've got to run at 3.6 I might as well get a quad that will do that speed. :)
Hi,
I'm in the market for a quad core processor. I've recently finished building a new system and I'm very disappointed in the overclock I'm getting on a lapped E8400. So if anyone has a chip that you've been able to overclock to 3.6 or more for sale please let me know.
Thanks,
Bill
Yeah, that's one of the disappointing things about this chip. I was hoping I wouldn't have to go that high to get 4.0ghz+ to say nothing about 3.825. Maybe the ram was causing the instability and the cpu can actually run stable with less voltage. Doesn't make sense to me, but I'm a noob at this...
Hi,
I'm trying to overclock my E8400 and having some success but not nearly the numbers I hoped (wished) for. I've been able to get it stable at 3.825ghz running OCCT for 12 hours. The vcore is 1.40v and the memory is 2.0v. Unfortunately I'm not able to get any higher stable. I'm able to post...
I'm pretty jealous of these numbers. The most I can get out of my E8400 is 3.825 at 1.4. It will post all the way up to 4.2 ghz but getting into Windows is another story. I can boot Vista Ultimate 64 at 4.05 ghz but I'm not able to run OCCT at all. Nothing close to 4 ghz is stable. That includes...
Does anyone know if this cooler would prevent a third GTX to be used due to it's size?
Wasn't sure if I should put this in the video card forum or this one. :)
My concern is being able to have at least 4x AA at 2560x1600 in all games (except Crysis of course :p). That's why I was sticking with the GTX's or GX2.
Thanks a lot for the input. I'll definitely be going SLI. At this point I'm considering the GX2 quad sli, 8800 GTX sli, or 9800 GTX sli. My primary concerns are the issues I've read with GX2 and sli at high resolutions. I'm also considering 3 way sli on the GTX boards.
Looking forward to your...
Have you seen the drop in frame rates in all games or only in COH? Also, are there problems using AA in games with the quad sli? I'm
in the middle of a new build and the question of what video card to get is the number one question on my mind. Thanks for any insights.
Dan, I'm building a new system based on a EVGA 790i ultra and E8400. What cards would you recommend to play Oblivion, UT3, Bioshock, Halflife 2, etc at 2560x1600? I definitely want to use anti-aliasing.
