    Oculus Quest

I have the original Vive and the Rift. I am really pleased with the simplicity of the Quest. I hated all the cables and bought a wireless for the Vive . It was a lot of trouble on its own. The Rift is a pain to setup properly with 4 sensors. I liked it but I think the Quest is a lot better for...

Oculus Quest Features an Active Cooling Fan

My Quest from Walmart came early and while I can't activate it until the 21st, I can say for sure that it does not have a fan. None of the reviews that have been published stated that it has a fan, either.

Boeing 787-9 Twin Jet Dreamliner Hits Top Speed of 801 MPH

If you were running 10 MPH on a treadmill located in the back of a truck traveling 70 MPH would you think you were running 80 MPH, 70 MPH or 10 MPH. Ground speed and the speed you are traveling have not much to do with each other except how long it will take to get to your destination. Warp a...

Federal Agents Can Access Deleted Data from Car Infotainment Systems

Yes, but "all and never" are infinite terms. "voice profiles and other biometric identifiers," contacts, call logs, GPS locations and Web histories are more than a little information to store. Factory systems usually run a version of android also, usually 4.0 and have almost no addressable...

    Nvidia Fakes the Moon Landing

That's one reason, all the other reasons are that the people who believe it didn't happen are stupid. Oh, Wait, the "where's the other light" group are stupid too. Where's the source for light on earth. Unless you were in a binary star system all the light is provided by your STAR. On the back...

Federal Agents Can Access Deleted Data from Car Infotainment Systems

If it stored all your data and never erased it, it would have to have a hell of a lot more memory than they have. My Radio/Navigation infotainment system is pure Android and can erase any and all files at anytime. Besides the ATF would arrive in a cattle truck with 45 machine gun carrying...

With a 55" (used as a computer monitor), a 65" and a 77" W, LG OLED TV's no break-in procedures or dimming adjustments - no image retention or burn-in of any kind. Same experience with Panasonic plasma's in the past. Never had a problem.

    Amazon Prime at Whole Foods

I had no idea they had Gluten free water. Is it also fat free or at least low fat? A person could get healthy in that place. Do they have stress free lottery tickets guaranteed to lose, so you don't have to worry about it. I knew their Pharmacy dept only sells Placebos to eliminates all those...

    TPCast Pre-Order?

The Vive has a 3 cable pretty large and heavy strand unless you buy the 3-in-1 replacement. Even then, you have to drag the thing cable around in room scale. Even just seated I don't like the cable attached to the HMD and its added weight. The wireless adapter adds a little weight to the head...

    TPCast Pre-Order?

Had a friend in China buy one for me and ship it DHL. Totaled about $350. It works fine but is still a lot of gear. Battery life is about 3 hours. Better than constantly being wrapped up in cables.

Nvidia: Few PCs Capable Of Powering Oculus Rift

Yes, that's the very reason I did not buy a Bugatti Cheron. Not only did it not have adequate towing capacity, I could not even find a trailer hitch for it. Luckily, I did find a 5th wheel set up for my La Ferrari, though. Wish this expert had warned me about the lack of NVME support on my...

For those with both a Vive and Rift, any issues using both on the same PC?

My light modules didn't power down at first buy for some reason they now do so. Windows 10. I unplugged them once and when I restarted they now seem to turn off.

Which VR solution to get, any reason to get a vive?

I have both but prefer the Vive. Better and larger room scale and, to me, just works better overall. Bought both at bargain prices. See my thread in Vive owners. It's easy to get either for about the same price if you are in a city large enough to have an active Craig's list. Quite a few people...

    EVGA Z170 ITX Stinger Unused

I have an EVGA Z170 ITX Stinger for sale.I bought it to use with an i7 7700K CPU, but discovered that it required a bios update which required having a SKYLAKE processor to do so, which I did not have. I talked to EVGA support and they would send a new bios chip free but it would take a couple...

PSA to Sellers of iPhones: don't be anal about providing info.

Checking an IMEI can give you some useful information about a phone, but there is no guarantee that the phone is safe to buy. One of the latest scams is to sell a phone that is financed and not paid for but the payments are current. The phone has a "clear" imei and has not been blocked by the...

    CPU's really necessary for VR

I have a 980ti in my regular computer and an i7 7700K. This just seems to show that the minimum CPU requirement is a lot lower than they say. Even with the 970 all frames were above 90 which is surprising also.

Gear VR: Intriguing, exciting, disappointing, expensive, immature?

I have pre-ordered the new controller from Best Buy, $40, it may be an improvement to the 3rd party ones without motion tracking. I understand that this one has "limited" tracking so we will see Even a $6 eBay Bluetooth controller is an improvement to the headset controls. Supposed to be...

There are several versions of the Gear VR S-RM 320, 321, 322, and the latest RM-323. Each version has been and improvement. The latest is actually pretty good. Considering the price and also the price of the APPS it is even better than that. I have had each version with several different phones...
