just to let you know, i went with a 570. thanks for all the back and forth and comments. gave me ideas to use when running searches to find other people's experiences. I don't think the 6850's would have been much of a hassle for me to set up...but i've got a lot of other irons in the fire...
$336.22. Mentions a 5% ebillme cashback. Fatwallet has 2% cashback on mwave.
Not sure if this counts as a deal, but it's lowest price I've seen on a 570...
I'm running my comp out to my 67" tv. 1920x1080.
It works great, but my 8800 gts 512 is showing its age.
I've read lots of test results where the crossfired 6850's generally handily beat the newer 1-card solutions (570, etc) at this resolution.
I'm searching now, but is crossfiring (never...
Building new machine. Considering Corsair hx650 and hx750 for the build. no plans to overclock. air cooled. had considered a seasonic of some variety...but current rebates make the corsair attractive. A look at the antec power supply configuration calculator puts me around 550w continuous...
I'm reading the charts so when i build my new comp, upgrading from 8800gts 512, i know which one will give me best fps on my 67" tv (1080p). I know I don't need top of the line, but it still looks like the pricier cards let me start cranking the features up without a loss of frame rate.
570...
I built my last machine with a 8800gts 512, quad6600, etc in a cooler master 690. Process went well and has been a great machine. Gonna give it to my brother and build a new box.
Wondering what the current heir apparent to this box in the $50-$100 range might be.
I intend to have a blu...
anyone know the range of a g700 wireless setup? My comp is in one room, and I use my 67" tv as my monitor in the next. I'd guess it's an almost straight shot 20' distance from gaming seat to comp.
I think it mainly had to do with the onkyo.
Also, wired directly to the tv, I have less issues fitting the desktop to the viewable surface of the tv.
Think I'm good now. thanks everyone.
I switched back. no real effect.
I then plugged the computer directly into the tv, instead of my onkyo receiver which does my switching for me. Things appear to work better.
Gonna ride this for a while and see if the problem completely goes away
I've been running my BFG NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS OC 512MB for quite some time now without incident.
I run a dvi-hdmi cable to my 67" Samsung TV for my gaming at 1920x1080.
Recently, while playing BFBC2, I've started to get incidents when the signal appears to drop, tv goes black for a sec...
I'd like to know the time span we have to be worried about too... been a long time since I ordered from them... but if they're sitting on numbers, time frame may not matter.
actually, in doing some more tests... I think it's just one of the drives is flaky. I pulled one out of the raid and started the machine.... problem still existed.
shut down again, restarted with only the second drive in... problem seems to have gone away.
gonna run tests on the suspect...
this is an existing install.
hangs are not at startup... I leave the machine on all the time. I notice the freezes when I am on the machine at night browsing, viewing videos...or doing whatever.
K, newb question from a non-newb... "DFT"? I assume that's a disk test... but what kind? (i...
I've recently set up my comp to run on two WD Green 1.5TB running as mirrored array. (in the past, i was on 2 500GB Seagates running in the same config). Machine's running 6600 proc, and 2gb of ram.
Well... I'm getting system freezes/hangs... task manager sees nothing... but the machine...
I just tried a scythe on the side panel. still have a buzz (or louder fan) think it's because it's shooting right into the heatsink/fan combo. If I mount it to the exterior, and put a little screen or something over it to protect it from fingers... does that quiet them down?
In trying to fix my optical out problem on my p5k-e, i tried the latest bios (i know...mistake).
Anyway, I can't back down to my saved bios... so I'm wondering, is there any bios I can back down to where I don't have to reboot the computer once or twice to get it to post? also... with this...
no joy, not finding MS driver support for it. still searching. really should run in to the office and see if i can find the cables to do the mini to rca fix and quit dicking :)
i've been reading the ins and outs of both types of connections :)
anyway, where do i find the latest appropriate realtek stuff for a p5k-e. asus only seems to list the soundmax stuff
btw, thanks for the assistance
onkyo 606.
Yeah... i'm digging through my cable box now... but unfortunately, while I have piles of 1/8 to rca splitters, I don't have any long 1/8 to 1/8 cables to get me there.
May have to just move the computer close for a little while for proof of concept.
btw... more reading... it's not a good answer, but it could work.,...
for now, can i take mini jacks to rca's and take that straight into my receiver? how do the mini/rca cables get connected at each end? i think green is fronts, yellow surround, and black is center and sub... but just...
K, been trying to figure out why my P5K-E won't output to the optical output.
I may have a hardware issue... but in looking for answers, I'm running into piles of threads that say I'm not going to get what I want.
What I want...my computer audio to pump to my HT.
I want games coming...
I just started trying to hook up my HT receiver to my computer.
But, no optical sound output. I've even noticed at power on, the optical out is dark.
is there some setting other than onboard audio on, front panel hd sound on, that needs to be set for this thing to work?
I would assume...
I did do that...covering the fan (at least 1/2 of it), does make the noise go away.
I'm not real keen on cutting the case. Rather try other fans or solutions.
What is the actual cause for the noise? Over restricted air flow? or what?
Set my case up... works great. 'Cept for the side-panel fan. Within a day, it has a buzz.
Nothing's rubbing, etc.... it's just got a slight buzz... Anyone else found this? Short of replacement, anyone find a fix?
Just a newb question.. do the gt2 512's adjust their fan speed on the fly? Or does it just stay put? THought I saw some mention of this being a problem in the past.
Mine sat around 50-55 when left at stock setting. I've since turned the fan up to 50% and it's now at 43 with no real load...
There've been posts on here about not updating the bios on these things from the original 703 they came with... you might read around to see why, and what hapens if you do.
