Hello,
Have you tried to flash your bios to the newest version? From the number of MSI boards I have dealt with they allways gave me trouble until updated the bios.
Since you swapped the ram for a known good set I really doubt the ram is the issue. The CPU could be bad but I think it is...
A "channel" is a another name for a speaker. A six channel system = six speakers. Dolby Digital 5.1 is a 6 channel system (Center speaker, L front, R front, L rear, R rear, subwoofer).Typically on board sound does not perform as well as a sound card but most people would be happy. As long as you...
Here is an article how to install a new MB without reeinstalling the OS. I have never installed a motherboard without reeinstalling the OS but I may try next time I upgrade my MB.

It is all about choice. If you do not want to pay out $2,000 just get something affordable. There is nothing wrong spending more if the product is worthy of the investment.
If the DRM is too difficult to bear, just don't buy it. There is plenty of software and games out there to buy or download that has acceptable protections.

The answer is I would not get too much of a change in performance. I am tempted to go to the 955/965 C3 stepping because of its lower power use, ram spec increase to ddr1333 (I have ddr1600 installed) and greater overclocking potential.
I am planning to update my computer in the near future. I was curious if I should get a new 965BE C3 stepping (my present processor is a 955BE C2 stepping) or I should wait for the new 6 core AMD processor to come out.
I like to use my computer for videogaming and some video transcoding work...
Before I can believe Fermi (or any other card for that matter) can change the landscape of gaming forever, I have to first see the card in action and gauge it over the course of time. I hope for Nvidia's sake, Fermi performs better than AMDs 5000 series cards.
Whether I buy Nvidia or ATi depends how the "Fermi" will perform vs the 5870/5850 cards. If you happen to hate Nvidia, just buy ATi and be happy with your purchase.
It comes down to either better performance(i5) or better price(AM3). I prefer AMD because they are priced well, and tend to have long life cycles for their sockets.

I have not seen a 5770 quad fire yet but there is a triple crossfire article at the same place.

The article shows triple 5770 crossfire does better than the 5850 and is compartible to a 5870 if...

Fortunately, I do not have a 285GTX or a 4870/90. ;) I have been with my 260 card for a while now and upgrade is in order soon. You have a valid point on the 5800 series. I just think AMD has a fantastic card lineup now and will have some new exciting cards in the near future with...
I not much a fan of waiting let's see... Half a Year for the competition to roll out some mythical card even if it is Nvidia. Unless Nvidia can pull some serious rabbits like real world tests soon, I will go with the AMD 5000 card series. The 5850 looks particularly attractive. I might...
Some things (like the 5770...) work best in pairs! :) Honestly I only considered buying 5770 crossfire as an alternative to the 5870. By itself the 5770 performs roughly like my Nvidia 260(216 shader) card and would not be much worth to "upgrade" to. But as a crossfire combo it sure packs a...
I like to install new hardware such as my motherboard frequently. My question is, if I did not have to load any motherboard drivers from my motherboard CD on my last windows 7 installation, would I have to reeinstall windows 7 again for the new motherboard?
Any advice is appreciated.
