AirWatch, MobileIron, Boxtone are all good enterprise MDM solutions. I did a 5,000 device AirWatch implementation recently, with a pretty good mix of iOS, Android, and WP7, and it is a great value, especially if you use their SaaS model.
There are many reasons to virtualize, and price is a big component, but by no means the only component. Physical servers typically do not use 100% of their resources 100% of the time. Virtualization allows you to leverage your total resource pool across a larger number of servers which drives...
I might have something for you. We consolidated another datacenter recently, and I believe I recovered some KVM equipment. If there is a good 16+ port IP KVM switch in there, I'll hook you up.
Let me look tomorrow and see what I have.
Agree with you on the C7000-series. We currently have 4 (and a 5th on the way) running 64 HP BL460 blades with VMware Infrastructure 3. Absolutely love them.
The number one reason we usually see for poor DB performance on virtual servers is poor design of the storage system. Using VMware ESX, a virtual server should see at or near equivilent performance to a physical server of the same size if designed correctly.
There are many other things that...
Keeping in mind I have no experience with them, Jamo is considered a good brand in Europe according to a good friend of mine that lives in Denmark where they are made. They were acquired by Klipsch a few years ago, but still operate independently. They seem to have a small but dedicated...
I built my current game rig with the Asus P5N32-E SLI Plus back in April 07, and it's been problem free since then, including through a fresh install of Vista Ultimate x64 in January 08. I typically don't keep a board that long unless I can't find any compelling reasons to replace it. The last...
I am very happy with my Toughpower 750w modular. It's remarkably quiet. While on a quest for a modular power supply, I was about to pull the trigger on the 620HX when I found the Toughpower for $99 at Fry's on special.
Fun read seeing what's still out there...
My daughter has one of my old game rigs. I removed it from the old massive In-Win Q500 full-tower and threw it in a new case. It still runs great. Definitely one of my favorite systems of all time.

The new Arctic Cooling Twin Turbo is due out in mid-August according to a guy I talked to there, and it looks pretty good.
That's the unit I was going to go with but came across a good deal on the GFXChilla, so I decided to try it out while I waited for the AC. I'm so thoroughly happy with it...
I'm glad you fixed it. To be fair, I immediately thought of that when I read your first post, but I see that FlyinBrian and transmux actually made a similar inquiry a couple of posts ahead of mine, so I'll give them first shot at any credit.
Without going into a lot of boring electrical...
Hmm... I solved this same problem for a friend of mine a good while back. He upgraded his X800 to an X1900XT and when he would play Oblivion, he would get a loud beep from inside his case (not the UPS alarm). He was at wits end with troubleshooting when I asked him if he was using a UPS, which...
Since the Arctic Cooling unit I wanted to try is not available yet, I went ahead and ordered the GFXChilla. I'm very happy with the results. 37C idle and 50C load with an ambient temperature of 22C. Amazingly quiet. I had to double-check it was actually working.
Installation was easy and the...
To expand on what Joe Average said, an EQ is really designed to compensate for environment variables that cause the source material to not sound as intended once it leaves the speakers.
For example, if you really wanted to tune your audio system, you might employ an RTA (Real Time Analyzer)...
I have the Toughpower 750 and no complaints either. I'd say whichever you can get for the better deal. The TP was only $99 from Fry's a while back.

I can tell you what I replaced my ProMedia set with. Very happy with the results.
Polk R150 bookshelf speakers ($50 from Fry's)
Yamaha YST-SW215 subwoofer ($85 from Ebay)
Sonic Impact T-amp ($50 from Parts Express)
Since several of the recent BIOS revisions reference the Opteron directly, I would say yes.
Personally, I have never seen a S939 board designed for the X2 that did not work with the Opteron since they are, for all practical purposes, the same thing.
Edit: The board that referenced the...
Tell you what... I was just going through my ever growing pile of parts I will never use again, but yet still keep for some unknown reason, and I saw an Asus P4PE-X motherboard with a CPU on it. Not even sure what it is, but if you want it, you can have it. Just PM me your shipping address and...
Agree on the fan profile hack. It's ultra easy. Just changing mine from 22% to 30% dropped it from 77 to 50 with no appreciable change in noise level. Going to 35% or 40% drops it even more, but the change in noise level becomes perceptible for me.
This is usually caused by errors on a device connected to the port/channel indicated in the log. Start by looking at the device you have on SATA port 3. Unplug it and see if the event stops.
We have been rather lucky. We have 42 of them and nary an issue other than a bad batch of dongles. We use a concurrent user license, so it works out much cheaper than $300 per client. Also, you don't really have to use the management software, but it makes it much more difficult to manage them...
I was about to recommend the Avocent DSR series but that won't even come close to your budget.
IRT AreEss: If you have a lot of them, you can work out an enterprise license agreement which saves you a lot of money.
I think so, but I've had my 8800GTX for a long time. There were measurable gains in games like AOC and The Witcher, both of which required some tweaking to run well at 1920x1200 with eye candy.
For me, it was a matter of finding something that was noticeably faster than my 8800, considering...
We just completed an upgrade cycle on some of our datacenters, and I've got some enterprise-class hardware to sell. Obviously, this isn't the kind of a thing an individual buys, but if you work for a company looking for some used equipment in great condition, I'd rather sell it to one of you...
Mine made me :)
The Polk R150's sound great with the T-amp, even without the sub if your expectations are reasonable. The Polk's are a little on the edge efficiency-wise, but can still be driven fairly loud without clipping the amp.
This is how mine is setup currently. The t-amp runs to the high-level inputs on my Yamaha sub, and the Polk's are connected to the high-level outputs. I have the gen2 t-amp, and there does not appear to be a high-pass filter on the output as the sub appears to reproduce frequencies well below...
It's noticeable, at least to me. My ProMedia's were replaced by a pair of Polk R150's, purchased from Fry's for $49, and that same T-amp, purchased from Parts Express for $50.
I also have a Yamaha YST-W215 subwoofer for added low-end.
