How long before playing Crysis Warhead at 60fps constant at 1920x1200

I really don't get the obsession with 2x/4x/8xAA in Crysis when EdgeAA does a much better job at improving the IQ because of all the foliage (and the fact that you're spending 80% of the game outdoors in the jungle). From my own personal experience comparing 2x EdgeAA to 4xAA, I prefer the...

Paper washer or no paper washer?

Hi guys, I haven't built a PC from the ground up since 2000 so I'm a little rusty to say the least. I remember we used to have these red paper washers to isolate the motherboard from the case and the screw. I just ordered a new PC with an Antec Three Hundred Case and Gigabyte EP45-DS3R board...

Prelude > analog > Z-5500 > headphones... any quality loss?

It looks like my options are (from least to most expensive): 1) Find some good HP's that will run off the sound card's "cruddy amp" :p (any suggestions by the way? quick Google search gave me Sen 555, Proline 750, ...? - would be looking for something around that price range) 2) Pair the...

Prelude > analog > Z-5500 > headphones... any quality loss?

I don't like the sound of that.. :p Hmmm.. so you mean the Beyers directly into the sound card would still be limited? Do you have any suggestions? Should I get an amp? If so, then what kind? Please excuse my many questions. I've tried to read up on audio equipment as much as I could, but I...

Prelude > analog > Z-5500 > headphones... any quality loss?

I know my Z-5500 speakers would limit the Auzen Prelude in analog mode, so I was thinking about getting some nice headphones (Beyer DT 880 Pro) to get the optimal sound quality. My question is if I plug the headphones in the Z-5500 headphones jack, will I lose any quality? Does the Z-5500 do...

    Not noticing much difference...

Just curious, what sound card do you have? I also have the Z-5500 and I'm wondering which sound card to get to have a better music listening experience. Also, what connection are you using to output from the card to the Z-5500? Analog, optical, or coaxial? Does it make a difference?

Does a sound card make a big difference in audio quality? Also, digital vs. analog?

Sorry for the noob question. I was wondering if some of the 'recommended' cards out there: Auzentech Prelude Sondigo Inferno SB X-Fi Asus D2 etc.. really make a difference when playing MP3s or audio CDs? I don't care about CPU utilization, only audio quality. I'm not hooked up to...

    Small Nvidia Rant

It's probably something with your TV. Try playing around with the settings to see if you have a 1:1 or "dot by dot" mode. I'm running an 6600GT and I can get 1080p perfect on my 32" so I really don't think the GTX is at fault here.

Official BenQ FP241VW (not FP241W) Thread. Reviews and Pics

I've emailed BenQ Canada about a month ago and didn't receive a reply yet. I really wanted the BenQ, but I couldn't wait on them anymore so I just went ahead and got me another screen (the Sharp 32", which I'm very pleased with - 'was double the price, but it does everything I wanted...

Mini-Review: Sharp Aquos LC32D62U 1080p (loads of pics)

lol I also just bought this model today! 32" is massive! Much bigger than I thought.. I want to fiddle around with it a bit more before giving feedback & pics, but so far I'm giving it a 9/10 for first impression. Planet Earth HD on this bad boy is a delight for the eyes. Edit: I also get the...

Official BenQ FP241W Thread !!! Info, Pictures, Reviews

Thanks for answering. 1920x1080 over HDMI is really disappointing. Why advertise the 1st monitor to include an HDMI port when said port is basically useless. BenQ is really dropping the ball by not bringing over the overscan firmware to NA. If that is indeed the max resolution I can get when...

Could use some advice on getting a ~32in. display dedicated to console gaming...

Also, if you're willing to wait, Sharp has announce a new line of Aquos (including a 32" 1080p model) that will feature 24p, 3 HMDI ports, and other goodies. Should be out sometime at the end of the year. Link on avsforum.

Official BenQ FP241W Thread !!! Info, Pictures, Reviews

Thanks for the input both 10e and Ninjak. I posted this in the VW thread, but I believe the same applies for W, so I hope someone can provide an answer for me. ------- Just to be clear, without the overscan fix, to get both a PC and PS3 (or 360 Elite) connected to this monitor and avoid...

Official BenQ FP241VW (not FP241W) Thread. Reviews and Pics

Just to be clear, without the overscan fix, to get both a PC and PS3 (or 360 Elite) connected to this monitor and avoid overscan over HDMI, I would have to connect: - PS3/Elite to DVI (using HMDI to DVI cable/adapter) - PC to HMDI (using DVI to HMDI cable/adapter) Is that right? Also, Wii over...

Full HD TVs blurring the line between PC Displays and TVs

For the past month, I've been evaluating my next monitor purchase. I'm looking at full time PC use (mostly browsing and bit of coding) and also lots of movie watching and console gaming. My choices were between these 3 models: - Sharp Aquos 32" 1080p LC-32D62U (the 32GP1U is not available at...
