Great, so I'm looking at an MSI board. I like the features on it, however I'm not sure what brands are reputable these days. I had an EVGA motherboard a few years ago but it shit the bed when I was overseas. I've got an ASROCK right now that has been rock solid so far...
I wasn't sure which is more bang for its buck. I didn't look closely at what video cards are out.
Does this look like a better purchase? This way I can always throw a WC block on it.

Hello everyone,
Long time since I've posted here, long time since I've done a computer upgrade also so I'm a bit rusty on what I'm doing.
I need some help verifying my build and making sure I'm not being dumb and wasting money. Lets get these questions out of the way and I'll post what I've got...
Not trying to bring back a dead thread but i also have a similar problem.
My radatior is leaking at the threads or o ring very slowly. Im going to fix it with jb weld because teflon and new o rings didnt fix it enough.
Where should i apply the jb weld?
On just the threads of the fittings or...
Hi,
Im putting a new build together soon and i want to vebchmark and compare all the hardware i can. Processor, ssd,, ram, videocard and hdds.
So far all i can think of of the top of my head is:
3dmark11
Cpu z
Gpu z
That is all i can recall at the moment. I'm stuck in a bed from an...
Btw, I dont have monitor that can support very high resolutions and I wont be playing a lot of new games because my internet access is limited to a 3g phone
I was actually thinking of investing in more ram: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231277
Hrm..... The 5770 is pretty tempting... WIll the psu be able to handle all that?
I've decided to go with a better video card in the budget rig I'm building. Its just a dual core rig with 2gb of ram, 1hdd, 1dvd, no overclocking. I'm putting it all in the Lian Li micro atx case.
I want to get this psu and video card...
Something I'm kind of wondering about this build is, why do I have ddr3 ram? I mean for these specs doesn't ddr3 ram and a mobo that supports it kind of seem useless? I don't really save any money if I use a mobo that supports ddr2 and 2gb of ddr2 ram.
Alright you've sold me on the case and the psu. Thanks for pointing that Lian LI case it looks much better than the one I picked. And I've been nothing more than happy with my past 2 corsair psus. However I'm crunching numbers and if I spend about 110 more dollars I can upgrade my cpu and mobo...
I just graduated from USAF basic military training, so I'm still catching up on whats new and such. I'm now in tech school and am going to build a low budget rig for as much gaming as I can get for my money(there is not a lot to do around here). I have a great rig back at home being used by the...
I'm leaving in 30 days for the US Air Force and I'm most likely going to be moving overseas, or around a bunch. There will be many times where I will be waiting 2 or so weeks to get all of my stuff shipped to a new place, so I'm looking for something that I can take on a plane with me or keep...
I wont be purchasing anything that requires a constant active internet connection for the next 5 years or even more. I just enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and there will be many times when I don't have an internet connection or access to a constant/affordable internet connection. All this new...
I've got a second NIC installed on the untangle pc. But I have no idea how to set it up properly with my internet. Currently I just have my router set up as ppoe so it logs into the modem and connects me to the internet that way. I connected my router to the external NIC on the untangle pc, and...
An old pentium 4, 2ghz 512mb ram PC just came into my hands. I was wondering if I should install a distro of linux on it and use it as a firewall inbetween the modem and the router? Would that be possible? Is it even a good idea?
Well, after purchasing it and the 2 expansions and spending hour after hour trying to get it to patch and soforth. It still crashes at the same time and refuses to patch properly. I was really looking forward to playing it.
Can anyone suggest any better alternatives to it?
I love my r50's. I picked them up from frys awhile back. I came from a HTIB setup. So I'm still running on a very crummy receiver. However, even on this receiver I think they sound amazing for their price. If you don't have a big room I'd say go for the r50s. Especially if you don't want to...
Well, I've decided not to go with the lan LI because of the cost. However I did stumble across one of these Qpacks.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811144110
at 69.99 it seems to be the cheapest one so far.
So at the moment its either the Silverstone Sugo or the...
So I've finally got all the parts I need to build my lan gaming pc. The only thing next I need to get, is a micro atx case. As small as I can get. As I don't have any money for the case yet, I decided it would give me ample time to research it and make sure everything is going to fit correctly...
I used to play EVE online. I decided that I like lasers and wasn't an amarrian, turned out I wasted a month worth of training and quit. I hear its a fun game as long as you don't use lasers.
Non-integrated graphics. I was looking at the foxconn the other night, I just wasn't sure if it was any good because it didn't get great reviews, especially compared to the gigabyte that went out of stock.
Trying to find a cpu/mobo combo for as close to 100 dollars as I can get.
I was going to get http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128342
But its out of stock, not sure what else to look at.
So it looks like the amd mobo went out of stock. What was wrong with the original mobo/processor I picked out? granted it slower at stock but couldn't I just oc it?
I did like the amd mobo/processor though. Any other am2 mobo suggestions?
