Thanks for the suggestions! Couple things..
I'd personally prefer Windows 8. I know it gets a lot of hate around here, but I've used it and I like it. Do I need the pro version in order to utilize 32 gigs of ram?
I should have mentioned, but I have a NAS to handle my larger file storage...
1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
Primarily gaming, some light photoshop and audio production
2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
I'd like to keep it at around 3500$ tax and shipping
3) Which country do you live in? If the...
Tom,
Thanks for the heads up man! Since you've mentioned that I'm leaning towards a 650D with an H80 instead, with some upgraded case fans in a high pressure config. I'm hoping I don't run in to the same cooling trouble you're having.
Good luck with the ducting, I'd definitely be interested...
Great, I'll give those all a thorough look through. Great to know I will only need a 750w PSU because I was looking into some of the beefier ones.
Much appreciate the tips, I'll undoubtedly be bugging you for more info over the coming months.
P.S. What do you think of the Corsair H100 paired...
I forget where I read it, so there's a good chance I'm mistaken. I understand that there may be new GPUS launching around that time as well.. Are there any parts you would recommend keeping an eye on for deals? Seems like the market for cases, fans, and psu's (maybe some other components)...
[H]ello, I'm currently deployed in Afghanistan, and want to build a glorious PC upon my return this March. I'd like to have all (or most) of the parts waiting for me at home when I get there, so I'd like to put a build together now and start picking up the pieces as they go on sale.
A bit more...
I'm thinking of picking up 3x240 for Raid0 on a new build. How do you think this would perform compared to what I was originally considering, 1x480 corsair neutron gtx?
EDIT: I understand that you can use TRIM with Raid0 now. Is this correct?
I'm looking at the Definitive Technology StudioMonitor 350's @ 170$. Anyone have any experience with these? Seems like a pretty hot price to me, it's the lowest camelegg is showing.
I've been doing a bit more looking around, and I've decided to go the receiver route.
I've also figured I might grab some different components. This is what I'm thinking now..
Harman Kardon HK 3490 2 Channel 120 Watt Receiver: ~200$ used...
Hey
I'm currently deployed as a contractor with the army in Afghanistan, and I'm set to finish up this coming March. At that time, I'll be building a new desktop - and I'm really wanting to put a half decent sound system together for it.
I've been reading a ton of recommendations and...
Never had windows installed on my 1tb. I've always had the SSD as my primary, with other auxilary programs installed on the 1tb. But thanks for the suggestion :D
I'm in the process of updating to the latest firmware now. I am backing up in case it craps up mid-update, and acronis is giving me multiple errors that it can't read from multiple sectors. The SSD is mostly workable now, and I have a clone for it from a good while back - so I can use it as a...
Alright, so I download the crystaldisk deal, and it says the drive is healthy, as far as I can tell. Here is a screenshot of what it's saying. Uploaded with ImageShack.us[/IMG]
HI all, I'm in a tough situation and I think only my bret[H]ren can help..
I'll start at the top. I've taken a job supporting the troops in Afghanistan as a contractor, which is where I currently reside; this provides some unique roadblocks to resolution, namely my internet connection is...
I'm looking into buying a camera for an upcoming deployment to Afghanistan. I didn't want to get a dslr because of their size. Also, aside from the basic point and shoots - I'm brand new to photography. Do you guys think this would be a good starting camera for me? Any tips for a new guy?
Couldn't disagree more.
I've played both HoN and LoL, and in my experience - HoN was much better. While I concede that the community sucks, I usually play with friends and don't have to deal with random people. I payed 40$ for HoN back when it launched (I think), and I've gotten more game...
Great game for those with a strong stomach. It's a very competitive team based game, so it's not the most noob friendly.
However, if you do a bit of reading on how to get good, and mute the douchebags for your first few games - it's the best game I've ever played in terms of challenge and...
FWIW I worked in the restaurant industry for a few years - and through hard work and good service eventually worked my way up to serving in a fairly nice restaurant. It's not as easy as it looks. Especially when things get busy.
The way that I saw (and still see) it, is that I would honestly...
I, too, much prefer HoN to LoL. I feel like it's much deeper. It's kind of hard to describe.
I sort of feel like LoL is a Disney version of the gamestyle.
Anyways, we should really get an [H] clan/group to play HoN together. The community won't be so bad if we're smashing their collective...
To be honest, I'm not sure. If there's any improvement in color, I'd bet it would be marginal at best.
The way I see it right now, you're looking for a tradeoff between an old age (possible warranty issues) but a better PC gaming monitor and a newer monitor that *might* have *slightly* better...
If you're gaming on only the PC, strictly speaking model wise - the 3007 is better because it does not have a scaler and thus has much less input lag.
I'm a huge fan of the 3007
