I was just curious is the sound card built into this motherboard really that good? Or is it worth it to buy a sound card to replace it?
And if so any good recommendations? Best bang for the buck of course...
Thanks!

Guess it did make a difference.
Well I acquired an SLI connector today. Just for the fun of it, I'm going to run 3DMark without the SLI connector first. Then connect the Video cards via the SLI connector, restart my computer and re-run 3DMark and really see what (if any) difference it makes. :D
I found the option for enabling the Quad Sli, but after a restart there was a taskbar notification that sli wasn't fully enabled and mentioned something about the bridge connector.
Hmm, well what do you know, see below:
The SLI bridge is not necessary on most modern day boards including the Intel DX58SO board used on this machine; SLI is already enabled. You will be able to verify by opening the Nvidia control panel (the SLI enabled box will be checked).
Please let...
They (Intel) built the system for me and shipped it to me, but I noticed that there was no SLI bridge connector connecting my 2 Geforce video cards. Also it was not included in the package.
Is it not required? Is it handled via the software?
I downloaded CPUz program and after I ran it, it was weird because the multiplier was changing on the fly!
But I'm sure that is how its supposed to be, right?
The Good news, I won this:
Congratulations! Your name has been drawn as the winner of the Race To PAX Promotion. You have been drawn to win (1) gaming package.
This package includes one(1) gaming system and one (1) trip to the Penny Arcade Expo (PAX) in Seattle, WA, September 4-6...
So I won an Intel contest so this is my new motherboard. I didn't see a thread for this mobo so here goes...

Yep, I still love this MB, but then again I got lucky and got a refurbished one for like $65 and I have had it at least 6 months if not more, and it works great even OC'd to 3.4Ghz.
:)
Email response from Corsair:
Hi,
The part that you have sent in is currently on back order at this time I do not have a current ETA. I can offer you a loaner part which would be the TWIN2X2048-6400C4 or we can offer you a refund. I am very sorry for the inconvenience.
Thank you,
RMA...
Well I already got an RMA from Corsair and they are sending me memory replacements. But I will definately keep your suggestion in mind. Hopefully after the new memory, I have no more problems. Still very satisfied with this board that I got for $65! ;)
System has been running fine using vista 32-bit which I upgraded from XP.
Then I started getting this error:
"Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered." Basically the video would mess up and it would start working again after 10 to 15 seconds. And would...
Good GOD man, think that videocard has enough memory on it! :)
You have went to the first page and made all the required changes in your bios? Followed some of the how-to's and such?
My computer is a little funny.
So anyways I increased the mem voltage to 2.15 (was 2.10)
and I decreased the SB voltage to 1.45 (was 1.5)
And I meant to downclock it, by setting it from 1600FSB to 1500FSB, but somehow (had a blond moment) set it to 1700FSB and realized it as I was saving...
I hear ya. My Monitor is max out @ 1366x768
Running BioShock in DX10 @ 1280x768 on my 50" PLasma TV is awesome, and of course the new 8800 GTS made a big difference.
Oh and I must be part of that 2.31% lol
Doubt it, but it is possible. Too many variables have to be considered and also how lucky you are with your board actually letting you overclock that high. You wont know unless you try. Please be careful because you can fry your CPU and/or MB. Best to increment slowly. I have seen a E6420 OC'd...
Well since its been pretty slow in here...
What are optimal, and/or best performance/stability settings for NB, SB, and Vcore for this Motherboard?
In other words, what is the highest I could increase these voltages in order to get the most overclock, yet still have stability, and still...

Anyone notice it says "E6400"?
I hope it was a 6400, because that is the processor I have and that is an awesome overclock!
OH man! Nvm now I see 6420 below the name! DOH!
SO how stable is she?
I have a 6400 (not sure how similar the OC capabilities are between the 6420 and 6400) but could you please post your OC settings and results? I am trying to find stable "best bang for the OC" settings.
Thank you!
Cool I will try this this weekend. Plus it gives me an excuse to make a USB boot drive. :)
Oh and I was curious as to why the bios files cannot be found at the MSI website. Or at least I could not find em.
I got an AMIGA A500 when I was stationed in Germany while serving a 3 year tour of duty in the U.S. Army. It was my first computer and it is what got me into computers. Man I kinda still miss it.
Great write up btw. Thank you!

So if I have a 6400 C2D and want to hit 3.2 Ghz
Would it be:
400 x 2 = 800 (RAM)
400 x 4 = 1600 (FSB/QDR)
400 x 8 = 3.2Ghz (CPU 8x is highest 6400 will go)

Man the end of XP, and the start of Vista...
Reminds me of the end of DOS gaming, and the start of Windows gaming.
I still remember how bad games ran on Windows way back then.
All the HomeBoys say Raptor, I have to agree with the Homeboys.
Of Course I got my 160GB Raptor for $160 way back in May 06, and its a very nice HD. If you dont mind spending a little extra go for the Raptor. If on a budget, get a Seagate 7200.10
Good luck!
