AIT/AMD is constantly releasing new models and I have a hard time keeping up.
What would be my best upgrade from a 7900GT on a Core2Duo 2,4Ghz system?
Radeon 5770 maybe?
I want a card around 150USD
Thanks!
Hi!
In the BIOS I can only set it to auto or to other values but since I don't know the "standard" setting it's hard to set it to something.
I'm trying to run a C2D E6850 [email protected] with a 400Mhz FSB with 4x1024 DDR2 PC-6400.
The system is stable running stock but I want to run a...
Danny Bui:
I think both you and I and everyone else know that that the published system requirements for applications/games rarely are equal to reality.
I need feedback from users who have installed W7 and how much space it takes on their drives
Thanks
Im currently running XP but received Windows 7 RTM through my University yesterday. My C:\ drive is only 21Gb, is this enough for Windows 7?
I will put the swapfile and My Documents on another drive and also turn off Volume Shadow Copy and System recovery. I don't run too many "heavy"...
Menelmarar: I'm thinking about doing a clean install but don't really want to install Vista and then SP1 on top. I want a pre-integrated SP1 disc.
I have a MSDN account, you mean it's ok to use that serial for another version?
Changed the settings in bios to 1.35 volt and blew away some dust from the fans/heatsink.
Down at 62-63C now, dunno if its' the dust, the voltage or something else?
Hi!
I have an E6850 on a Asus P5K-E which has been running at stock speeds with the original bios at around 52C/125F at full load.
Yesterday I decided to give OC a go and simply tried for 3,2Ghz to start with. Before that I updated the BIOS to the lastes 0806. TAT and the new bios shows around...
unclewebb:
Yeah, I'm still going strong here! Gotta love that extra 1.2Ghz from stock ;)
I've been running TAT, Right Mark CPU Clock Utility and Core Temp simultaniously. Most of the time the temps are always around 57-58 but a few minutes ago they were going all the way up to 64 for a...
Hi Bill!
Thanks for your quick reply!
I'm running a well-ventilated Antec Sonata II with two 120mm fans (one in and one for outtake)
On the E6850 I have a NINJA PLUS Rev.B with a 120mm fan blowing at full speed.
After running Orthos for 30 min I have core temps at 55 and 56, at 1.45v...
Hi!
I just got my Asus P5K-E and a brand new, G0 E6850. I ran it for a day and last night I went for the OC. I tried 3.6 at stock voltage with no luck, pushed the vcore up to 1.40 but still it's not stable.
Can I go for 1.45, is that "safe"? Or is there something else that's wrong?
I...
Hi!
I'm getting my E6850 today and some people write that you should run two different instances of Orthos to stress both cores.
But when I look at screenshots in various overclocking threads it seems that Orthos can stress both cores with only one instance running. Which is correct...
Just a quick question, the board has 6 S-ATA connectors, which one goes directly to the ICH9R?
I have two S-ATA hdds and one S-ATA DVD-RW. where should I connect them?
Hi!
I always try to have an updated and clean system when it comes to drivers. In a few days I will get a Asus P5K-E motherboard and since I don't want all the crappy utilities/drivers that Asus usually include I would like to download the "original" ones directly from Intel.
But what...
Hello!
I'm feeling a bit stupid here but I can't find any big differences between P5K-E and the P5K Deluxe card.
They both have 8-phase power, stack cool 2 etc. The deluxe card has two Gb NIC's, amI missing something else?
Thanks!
OK guys (and ladies if we have someone in here)
Thanks again, you have convinced me to wait. I already long for my Q6600, P5K-E and 8800GTS.
Cyant:
Well, as I live in Sweden I probably won't buy a CPU from tankguys, but thanks for the tip!
Thank you for you replies!
I was thinking about a 400FSB * 7 = 2800Mhz or (if I'm lucky) 400 * 8 = 3200Mhz. That's enough for me ;)
So the Quad-cores are really going to be that low? But do I really benefit from them if I play some games, surf etc?
Thanks again
Hi!
I'm eager to by a new C2D rig, nothing extreme but a E6600 and hoping for a 400Mhz FSB at around 3Ghz. I would love my new rig now but I've read about the coming pricecutsin July.
As I live in Sweden I prbably have to wait a bit longer for the pricecuts to have effect here...
What...
I would like to thank each and everyone of the guys who posted in this thread and helped me clear things up.
A special thanks goes out to BillParrish for his wonderful analogy! ;)

I read about the different P35 motherboards from Asus here:
http://event.asus.com/mb/p5k/spec.html
The two things I don't really understand are:
1. 8 Phase Power Design. What does this do? Make things more stable? More "overclocking-friendly"?
2. "Up to 20°C(36°F) Cooler - Stack Cool...
