    MSI P6N SLI-FI / Platinum (650i) Thread

I appreciate the reply. Also keep us updated on the goings w/ the e8400 if you can. I am considering dumping mine for that same chip. Wow, 60C on water.. I'm on AIR so I guess I shouldn't push the chip that far. 3.2Ghz vs. 3.0Ghz, I guess it's not worth it.

I can't get my e4300 to post after a FSB of 333. Well actually it posted at 350 but it wasn't very stable. How far are you pushing the NB and SB?

    MSI P6N SLI-FI / Platinum (650i) Thread

Hey RedChief, that message is normal and you can ignore it. It may be MSI's way of covering their butts in case something goes wrong w/ the overclock. The processor actually isn't run at a reduced clock speed. I have an e4300 too! I have an SLI-Platinum, but I think I can still help you out...

Thanks Spanki. I felt more comfortable buying new drives anyway, I don't like the idea of using adapters. Jumping ship eh? Does that mean you won't be passing by this thread anymore? That'd be kind of sad, as this thread has been helpful to so many largely because of your time/energy in...

    PNY XLR8 8800 GT 512MB Video Card

Good news for me. Dell did ship my card, and if all goes well w/ DHL it should be here tomorrow. And guess what? Through some clever talking I managed to get this card for ~$192! That's better than the MSI deal they fell through on. I'm so happy with the price I'd be willing to buy from Dell again.

    PNY XLR8 8800 GT 512MB Video Card

Good to know. My PNY XLR8 8800 GT 512MB Video Card isn't going to ship until Jan 15 assuming Dell doesn't screw this one up (it's an apology card for their screwup, check my signature). I hope my E4300 doesn't hold me down. I'm not planning on Crysis just yet, I still haven't really played...

Yeah, I decided I don't have the money to upgrade the computer for penryn. I'll stick w/ the 65nm and save money for whatever comes after Nehalem. Until then if some penryn works (and some do, for the Platinum at least) I might buy it or I may go quad core w/ a q6600. But I am building a new...

It's under testing right now... You can go here for a list of supported processors for this board. But that link's for the Platinum, you seem to have the SLI-FI.. I don't know the difference but to compare here's the link for the regular P6N SLI (i.e. non-Platinum); Link for CPU support for...

    MSI 8800GT $208 @ Dell.com

I 3rd this. I started 11/24 with a ship date of 12/10, then it was 12/17, then it was 12/26, now it's 1/4/08. I hope they make a New Years Resolution to meet their promises and follow through. Anyway I also want to keep this going out of curiosity. Even if they did ship on the 4th my school...

bass_ec placed their order on 11/24, same as me. I think the difference is I have not contacted Dell Customer Service (or the department bass_ec called) once. I just didn't have time to be on the phone and everything because of finals. I guess I have time over winter break. bass_ec, do you...

    MSI 8800GT $208 @ Dell.com

That's not right AT ALL. I've contacted Consumerist.com with this issue, I want to see what they have to say about this and what their advice is. Keep your e-mails and chat transcripts if you have them. You did not cancel your order, it should still be "in process" status.
  14. U

    MSI 8800GT $208 @ Dell.com

I agree with you. It seems as though they'll keep delaying until enough people cancel the order and then they can send the remaining orders an e-mail with an apology and some sort of coupon or whatever to appease us.

Joel, if you want people to help or offer solidarity I'm behind you. I ordered 11/24 and as of this morning I have the same est. ship date as you (after 2 delays). I responded to both via e-mail to let them know I will wait and do not wish to cancel the order yet they still called my house...

Thanks hybrid. It sucks that this has happened, but I'm also kind of glad to find out it wasn't just me. If Dell can't deliver (because the manufac. can't) then they should either give us a raincheck on the item for a later purchase or give us a discount or some small credit to be used on...

Wait hold the phone, I didn't realize it was such a big thing. My order has been delayed as well, with the off chance that they might just cancel and refund the money. Is there anything we can do about this? I was thinking of contacting the Dell Advocate e-mail (per Consumerist.com) or something...

That is interesting! Is the notebook custom built or is that a pre-built PC? If it's OEM (pre-built) what company is it? I am curious because I thought most OEM's lock their BIOS to prevent over or underclocking.

Mine too, my sticks boot in 1 & 3 but fail memtest within an hour (or within 100%). When in slots 2 & 4 they post fine and pass memtest fine after hours of testing. I've used two platinum boards with the same two sticks and had the same two issues .. so I know it's not one particular motherboard...

Actually I was but I didn't even think about that, so thanks. :) This problem was around even before my attempts to overclock, and so my RAM was at it's rated speed and timings and thus it was at 2T. Now I'm talking about my 2x512mb sticks: Using only one stick, on any DIMM, works fine without any issues during a memtest. When put into dual-channel mode in DIMMs 1 & 2, I get errors. In 3 & 4, I don't. This happened with the first motherboard and this one. I know the one stick in the...

When I first got my motherboard it was doing that. I didn't use those small riser pegs to separate the motherboard from the case, thus it was in contact with the case and when I would shut the PC down I guess it being right up against the case kept some electrical current going which I then had...

From what I understand, most Core2Duo chips in the e6x00 series the Intel stated max is 65C, so to be safe you'd want to be at least 5C below that (60C), and to be super safe you'd want to be 10C below that. Still there are people who run their chips at 65C, it doesn't immediately damage the...
