I'm curious, I have Audio Techinca ATH-AD900 headphones that I plug directly into the computer (on board sound). They have an impedance of 35ohms. Would a headphone amp make a noticeable difference for me?

Just wanted to report in that I also got my 2690 w/ SpectraView II 2 days ago. Mine is a 4B revision monitor and as far as I can tell, it is completely silent -- even while adjusting the brightness levels from 0 to 100%. I haven't had a chance to really go over the monitor in detail and play...

After watching Aquila76's video of the noise issue, I'd have to agree with him that it seems like there's an issue with the ballast for the CCFL. That or it's the CCFLs themselves that's causing the noise. Aquila76, have you contacted NEC about the noise? Maybe if you work with Travbomb, we...

So the noise issue seems to be only affecting the European models? Bad transformers that chatter too much? I've been holding off buying this monitor because of the noise complaints, but if the North America models are clear of these issues, then I may just give it a try and buy one and hope...

Does anyone know when the SpectraView version of the 2690 will be available in the USA? I'd rather buy that version if I could instead of having to buy a colorimeter and SpectraView software seperately. I've seen pcconnection.com has it listed but they don't have any in stock -- no one seems to.
