Hi ,just wondering,I have a vista cd that came with my built pc 9 months ago.I have xp as the oper. system now...I was afraid to upgrade because of all the bad reviews with using vista for gaming...Are these still issues or has there been updates to resolve whatever issues there were????sorry,I...
yea,it makes sense but For some reason I just bypassed the rj45 line on the surge protector...Funny though, the comcast modem didnt fry, just the router and pc....(must have some good ass resistors in it...lol)

heres mine, much higher joule rating, with many more outlets and internet connections.I also have a hd tv connected..
I own a home, homeowners insurance 900 a year for 400,000 in coverage.Deductable is more than 400...Insurance is only going to cover reasonable expenses beyond deductable, and all pc equipments value decreases immediately...To only pay 40 bucks for a surge protector for a pc that costs 2500 is...
and Im sure mine will suppress quite a few more joules than yours..You get what you pay for...........check your joule rating and what they will cover money wise for you if it doesnt work...
I dont think its possible to protect 100%.If lightning lands 4 feet from your house as in my case ,a surge protector will be useless if the current takes the right route..Luckily it came in the internet line.I think if it came through the electrical lines I may have had much worse problems...But...
yea,if you are home its a good idea....but whos home 24/7.........I also just replaced the motherboard after testing all the other accessories on it ...The mother board was the only thing that was fried, computer is back up and running..Buying a new motherboard was cheaper than paying deductable...
yes but I am considering the fact that the internet rj45 cable was running direct from the router to my pc that ,that was the route the electricity took. Also ,the router and my vonage adapter are not functioning correctly.I had to replace both of them also. And I dont know the rating exactly...
is there a way to see if the mb is getting power ?or to make sure the power supply is putting out power?I tried a voltage meter but Im not a comp tech and really dont know where to test for power (on what lead and which wires)
I guess I should have stated I have a surge protector and not a cheap one...400 bucks...The lightning literally landed on the ground 4 feet from my house.I also have numerous other electronic equipment connected to the surge protector and the only damage was to the pc......
Guys ,I think im screwed. We have a new rig ,the specifics really dont matter but last night a lightning bolt hit right outside our house and now the computer will not power on at all..No sign of power whatsoever.I started with the power supply, changed that and still ,no juice.........We spent...
Maybe someone knows why this is happening.I searched the web and cant find any answers...I just installed this mouse and now the computer wont go into standby mode.It will shut down but wont go into standby when I click the standby tab.I know its the mouse because I put my old microsoft wireless...
I have a problem, when I go to the start ,then press restart tab for windows to restart the windows screen shutting down comes on ,then the screen goes blank but the tower never shuts down and restarts...I have to press the hard restart buttton on the tower to restart it.The shutdown and standby...
soundblaster live 5.1 digital........Its funny...It worked in my previous store bought gateway with xp,even though its made for "me"..But it wont work in my built pc with xp....No ,I didnt try another pci slot...Would it matter?
wow,I wish I had the time to "attempt"that.......Two small kids take most of my time....I think I will bite the bullet and by some new speakers though(reluctantly)Thanks all........
I think I will get the new speakers.I tried to install the old soundblaster card and it corrupts my new system. The card is meant for windows 98 ,but I cant get it to work on my new rig with xp...My last rig with xp allowed it but the new one wont........
thanks,I didnt think I was getting 5.1 sound from the speakers like I was from my old soundblaster live audio card....Im wondering if I may be better off putting the old card in my new rig to regain 5.1 sound
I have an old(6yrsold)creative labs dtt 3500 digital 5.1 set up for speakers on my pc...I recently put together a new rig which has a xfi xtreme gamer 7.1 soundcard that doesnt have the old digital din output that I used to connect for 5.1 sound ...It does have a optical output that I have a...
Ill add my 2 cents.I recently ordered a 7950 gt graphics card from newegg and it was shrink wrapped(manufacturer wrapping)..Also I am returning it after opening the shrink wrap ,who knows what they will do with it when they get it back.Sell it again???
http://img96.imageshack.us/img96/9596/img08511hp1.jpgI will take some with the display later....This monitor rocks!!!Glad I bought it...No dead pixels via dead pixel buddy that I see....Now I just have to get my new rig up and running with my 8800gtx!!!woohoooooo!!!!!Text is crystal...

Ok,In searching around I found most people recommended athlon over intel for gaming processors?Would the savings be alot building myself?considering time(2 small kids)and aggrivation?
I would build myself if I knew what I was doing.....Im afraid I would set it up and then blow stuff up.Atleast this way I have recourse if it blows up or fries something.I have general knowledge, not sure if I would be able to set it up correctly.Im a little confused ,I thought this was a dual...
