Looks like some DX11 goodness is right around the corner... :)

What PSU do you have?
For a DX11 card, the 5850 might do...

or a GTX 260 for DX10, and save some $$...
Well put...
If you ask me, I think people find themselves wishing their Monster GPU was good at more things than just games, and Folding...
Some want more of a do-all GPU, that might even save you from upgrading your mobo and CPU so often. Just snap in a new GPU with up to 6GB, and your good...
Love the new card...
Love the philosophy about GPU's processing more than games... ;)
I will have a 380 or 395, no matter what!

Correct, a 280 can only run in SLI with another 280.
I use mine for dedicated PhysX, and it does a good job. ;)
A good spot for used 280's...

I rather was disappointed at the time, that the 260 would run with any of the new 260's...

Named after a nuclear reactor
The chip that we ended up calling GT300 has internal codename Fermi. The name might suit it well as Enrico Fermi was the chap that came up with the first nuclear reactor.
The new Nvidia chip is taped out and...
Sorry for trying to get to the truth...
Just for the record, that is the ATI boys pursuing this theory, not nVidia fans with agendas. Don't read it if you don't want to know.
Correct, I don't have a 5870. But I do have a 295, and did try to show that when you give the 295 more...
It should.... Yes.
But some feel there MIGHT be an internal bottleneck of some type.
More data is required.

The GTX 295 is inferior because it costs more for little to no extra performance? Who cares about power... It's cheep in Ohio. ;)
Performance is what most care about, or at least that is my biggest concern.

Value and Conclusion...
Not at all. :)
I hate picking fights. I am friendly by nature, and try and respect all opinions. ;)
I do however love discussion, insult free if possible. That is a rare thing these days on the net. :D
I get the feeling we have a few in this thread that are fine saying the the 5870...
So to the guys that think the 5870 should NOT have to run against a 295, what do you say to all the review sites that proclaimed the 4870X2 took the 280's single card performance crown?
I don't want to imply you should run out now, and buy a 295. I am looking foward to some DX11 goodness myself in the near future.
I only wanted to say I think running a 5870 against a 295 should be considered fare. That's it. Not what has the lowest power, or best bang for the buck. I was...
Nope, I now say all GPU's marketed as a single, should be treated as such.
Run anything you like againt the 295, and 5870X2, and GTX 395...
But we can't cry that single cards shouldn't run againt them. Too late for that in my book. :)
They already have...
They all should be treated 1 GPU now.
Heck, I was initially against putting an X2 card against a single too...
But the review sites don't see it that way...

No more remarkable than the 4870X2 taking the crown from the 280. ;)
Actually, I was one of the few who expected the 295 to beat a 5870. I think the hype was built up a bit too much before it's release.
Allot of people were posting that they thought it would beat a 295...
Thanks for the post... I could be wrong, as I have stated I am not sure. Just something I keeping an eye on. :)

However, look at the 5870 and 5870 CF benchmarks:
- Half the games are CPU limited.. all...
I think my single 295 is smooth as butter too.
I am a nVidia fan, so I won't try and kid anybody about that...
I think both CUDA and PhysX are 'value adds' for their GPU's
The 5870 has the ability to run multiple displays, which is a plus for them. I do like that feature myself...
