I agree with spotpuff - my monitor was $900, for that it MUST be perfect!.
Why not buy from a shop instead of online - tell them you want to check for DP's before you leave the shop (hehehe, AND before you give them your credit card...)
Well, I'm very very critical of the lcd's I've researched, and I love my new lp2065.
I said to the store that I'm going to check it on one of their computers, and itf it's not perfect, no sale.
It was perfect. i got it home installed the driver then went to set it up with the colour gamma...
Instead of thinking of it as a lcd monitor with usb up/down, think lcd monitor with integrated 4 port usb hub.
The lead goes from pc to monitor same as from pc to external hub, all the devices (mouse, gamepad, etc) now plug into the monitor (in place of a hub).
Usless with modern MB's with...
Well, EVERY 19 and 20" widescreen I looked at was smaller in height than my 19" crt.
That's one reason I hate widescreen.
I mean, 1680 x 1050?? I was running the 19" at 1280x1024, so wide was 26 pixels higher, and of course wider.
Now I'm on 20" lcd 1600x1200, wide screen is only 80...
I finally got my LP2065!
(Bloody Australians - they think it's normal for it to take a week to get something from 75Km away!)
It's an S-IPS panel. Very happy with it.
Lovely colours, plays Just Cause and GTA Andreas without any blurring. So easy to set up (I'd already downloaded the HP...
I'm here in Western Australia, and have just ordered a LP 2065.
It should be in the shop tomorrow, where I'll do a dead pixel test before paying for it. I'll also check the panel, and if it's not a s-ips, they can send it back.
I'm not paying $930 for a pva/mva panel!
Usually when graphic cards talk about 32 bit they mean 24 bits colour (8 each red green blue, same as the 8 bit/pixel lcd monitors) and the other 8 bits is alpha channel, transparency.
Theres also the Philips 200p7eb, which is my final choice for what appears to be an excellent monitor outside USA.
Why? Well, the usa model is the p7eb/27, it's a pmva panel. In Australia they sell the /75 which is a s-ips panel.
For ONCE Australia gets something first or better then the...
Well, according to that they're the same, but one's a 'rebate' model.
I'd still be unsure though - why make two different part numbers just to give a rebate (to track how many, maybe?).
Two things I've learnt in all my research (and I've done a shitload) into buying an lcd are:
1) DON'T...
From what I've seen from some of the in-depth tests, at other techy forums/websites, quoted ms figures can be out but HEAPS.
One test was on a mva panel with 8ms quoted - came out at 45ms on darker tones, dropping to 16 at mid tones, an 8 and lighter tones.
There's no real regulation...
Oh HELL, YES!!
Flickering, dead pixel lines (not just one or two DP's, 1000's of them), dvi-a/dvi-d problems, back-light bleeds, back-light flicker (not necessarily the same as the first problem). Some even have software ONLY adjustments (!! - get into a game and want to adjust the...
Maybe so, but prad.de is listed in Anandtech's as a 'trusted review site', and also philips website lists two different models of 200p7eb, one is 16/8 ms, possible 6 bit, the other is 14/8 ms, listed as 16.7mil colours.
I believe, from further searches on Philips homepages, that the eb/27 is...
I've been looking, for a while now, into buying an LCD monitor.
I hate widescreen, so it's down to 1600x1200, 20 inch or 21 inch.
I've narrowed it down to Viewsonic vp2030b/2130b, the Samsung 204b, and the Philips 200p7eb.
The Viewsonic has that EDID problem. I know some people have...
I believe so - it's thought that it's because NV cards enforce a strict usage if the edid (as in no edid for a certain res = no display. Ati have a looser edid usage (maybe)).
You'll notice that it's referring to dvi-i cables (which carry both analog and dig signal) being used analog only...
Yup:

There's mroe there too.
You might have to register to view these threads, I'm not sure.
yeah, but is it working on the analog connection in the dvi, or the digital connection.
Dvd-i leads have both, and the problem about 400 others have had is it uses the dvi-a part of the lead as default over the dvi-d part of the lead.
Some people have fixed it by using a dvi-d only lead, but...
I've heard bad things about Dvi-d not working properly on this.
Actually I've been doing a LOT of research into 1600x1200 (hate widescreen) 20" lcd, and I've come up with this <copy and pasted from another forum I've posted in>:
Ah well - I've pretty much given up ont the idea of getting...
