wow I'm in the exact same boat. My lady bought me this same drive from BB at the beginning of the month as a anniversary gift and I was just about to install it a few hours ago. I decided to look online for the reviews on it and I found out it's basically the green one. I'm planning on returning...
Let me just chime in. I've just upgraded to a 770 and decided to throw my 660 ti in my spare pc which has a e8400. This thing is being bottlenecked very hard. Trying all resolutions from 1024x768 to 1650x1050 no matter how high the graphic settings yields the same fps all around.
I've upgraded from a oced 660 ti to a 770 sc and it's still a pretty noticable increase. However if your coming from a 670 I don't think it would be worth it. Unfortunately my 660 ti is now being bottlenecked by my other pc that has a e8400, so I doubt I will keep it.
I have a similar setup to the OP, 2500k, 8gigs and game at 1080p. With the 660 ti (slightly oced) I was able to play Far Cry 3 with everything on max except with AA off, fps stayed between 50 - 60. Almost all other games I played was capped out at 60 with AA off with the exception of tomb...
Hey, I have a 660 ti oced and game at 1080 so I might be able to help.
I've been able to play pretty much all recent games at reasonably high fps without AA, stay at or around 60fps, in games like far cry 3 and so on. I haven't played crysis 3 but the newest game I did play was tomb raider...
Tried SmartCrap on my iPad 2, it took forever to connect to the xbox to do anything. Never was able to get the keyboard for the browser to work or use the control pad feature either.
Aside from using microsoft ClearType Text Tuner (Go to run, then type cttune.exe), you really can't improve a monitor's text sharpness. I'm also not sure if theres currently any desktop monitors smaller than 27 that have a higher resolution than 1920x1200
Ended up receiving a older version of a 1600, which doesn't do clear QAM. So, I'm still in the market for one, MUST do clearQAM, pci express would be nice but not required
Looking for a tv tuner, pci express, needs clearQAM, using it for media center and xbmc. I was looking at a wintv 1800 so dual tuner would be nice. Looking to spend no more than $30
After checking my psu, looks like I'll have to fork out some money for a new one since its a 500watt and only has 36amp on the rails. How does this one look...
Also on amazon for same price (249.99, 219.99 after rebate)

Unfortunately my mobo isn't sli and a majority of my cash in amazon gain't credits, so I really can't go the used route.
I was really thinking bout getting the 480 but I believe my psu is only a 550, and I seen from all the reviews / YouTube vids that the 480 runs pretty hot / power hungry...
I'm in the market to finally upgrade my 8800gt and was beating my head against the wall for the past week trying to decide which card to get. I think I finally settled on getting the evga 570gtx (over the 480 gtx, even though it's $209 on amazon vs $279). Now my problem is, should I get the HD...
I recently sold the sata HD that I had installed in it and was trying to install a Maxtor 200gb IDE HD that I had sitting around. I first noticed a issue when I tried to install Windows 7 from USB onto it. Windows wouldnt allow me saying something about the BIOS not being set to boot the Hard...

Even though I've been having very bad experience with this asus board, I would say that I do like the fact that you guys follow these forums and actually listen to people. I can't say that for MSI or Gigabyte, but then agian, I'm not hearing that they're having as widespread problems like the...
Nice case. Don't listen to those that say the h50 isnt all that great. With anything other than the stock cooler, you can reach 5.1-5.2 ghz, which is more than what 90% of people can get anyways. So I wouldnt worry about it.
why not just buy a air purifier? If you buy a case specifically to handle dust, then only your computer will benefit by it. If you bought a air purifier then both you and the computer will, dust isn't good to breathe in constantly and can irritate asthma / allergies. Besides, it would be cheaper...
My computer won't boot if I manually set my memory to it's proper settings (1600, 8-8-8-24-1, 1.5v) (and yes I even tried 1.65v with looser timings) with the latest bios. It will only boot if they're all on auto except volt (on auto it sets it to 1.65 instead of 1.5, so I manually set to 1.5)...
so still no solution? I just noticed that mines bounces between 1.6 and my overclock speed constantly while playing modern warfare 2. and my cores usage is like 20% max on 2 cores, 10ish on 2 others. Whats going on.
my old motherboard's mosfet made noises based on what was on the screen. I was able to pin point the exact one by pushing it down with a pencil (eraser end). I heard using hot glue on the offending part will stop it. It's caused by micro vibrations.
Man, @"I have been building computers since the 386 days and this was the first time I actually thought that I was going to break something closing the CPU socket retention device"
haha same thing I was thinking.
If it's not too much of a bother, could you pop on the stock HSF and run orthos...
Asus replaced my original motherboard with a crap one where one of the mosfet made noises based on what's on the screen. That was highly annoying, but I didnt bother to send it back and be without a computer for ANOTHER 2 weeks.

Your not the only one thats having problems with this style build. For some reason when I just run prime95 with stock everything, my temps shoot up instantly from 37c to about 65c in 4 secs, then it raises to 80c (highest I let it go before I stopped the test). This is after about 5 heatsink...
