In XP Home SP3 I've been cleaning out an infected box for someone and I noticed the cd/dvd autorun wasn't working so I tried just about all the reg fixes online I could find and I also ran the MS Autofix.exe files they have but none of them have worked.
The best I've come so far is, after...
The Shell folder 'Downloads on Vista is a plain folder and I can't change it to show the default blue look with the blue arrow.
I have a desktop.ini;
[.ShellClassInfo]
LocalizedResourceName=@%SystemRoot%\system32\shell 32.dll,-21798
IconResource=%SystemRoot%\system32\imageres.dll,-184...
purchase at your own risk...
Good gosh man if you can't test it and tell us if it's any good then don't bother selling it...
Be a good geek and give it away when someone buys something else from you...
This isn't Ebay! :(
Well they all have their differences and one thing for sure is, there is a hell of alot more software available for Free then in Windows.
Take a look at this link: (Look at the 'Software Center')

Don't get me wrong Windows7 is pretty...
If you use Ubuntu and visit the Freenode IRC channel I just wanted to let Ubuntu users know there is a new Ubuntu channel called ##ubuntu-geeks.
P.S. I just installed 9.10, really great! ;)
I have a 13-inch: 2.26GHz brand new Macbook Pro laptop, forced to sell. Including a Speck hard shell case, Moshi keyboard cover and Mini DVI Port connector. I paid $1400 for everything.
This still comes with the one year warranty.
Apple sent this to me as a replacement, it's brand new from...
Well as I mentioned this is for a 13" macbook pro, so I don't know if the LX is going to be to big and one of the fans on the side will not hit the underneath side of the laptop and I'm better off to go with the Cyro S, but then that begs to ask the same question, how well does it cool?
One guy...
A couple of degrees doesn't sound good. I have a cheap Targus chillmat that cools 5 degrees, so I'd hate to spend $60 for something that cools the same amount of temperature.
I'm going to use this for a !3" Macbook pro...
THANKS
So far the only two that have my eyes are:
NZXT Cryo LX
Thermaltake Massive23 CS
Thermaltake is the only one I can find that lists the CFM, which shows at 57, but one review I read stated it wasn't the best but when compared to others the differences in cooling wasn't that much.
I'm trying to...
Here's a screenshot of Windows 7 just as the install completes and I am sitting on the desktop for the first time. This is on a HP G60-234CL and yes Vista on a factory install coming from HP was using less memory then Windows 7 is right now. Well look it's an RC so hopefully when it goes final...
Someone on another forum made the comment above and my reply below.
So what are we saying? Both the built in Admin account and the one you create BOTH don't operate at TRUE admin level?
If that is so, then they are the same correct? So again what's the point of even creating an Admin...
I see your point here, true...
I've always turned SuperFetch off, not sure what you mean by cache it.
Another thing I don't get here is how come the install doesn't just have you make a password for the built in Admin account and then make an account for a standard user and when you first...
I never said it didn't respond faster or didn't feel better then Vista, it does, it seems a lot snappier. What I did say is that it's using more ram is all.
I'd love to see someone make Windows 7RC on a fresh install without tweaking anything run at 300MB, come on let's be real here.. Anyone...
There's nothing wrong with the laptop it's only a few weeks old. HP G60-243CL specs are pretty decent on it:
Here's the only specs I know: (Don't really know the full details like whos' the ram speeds and cas, etc... I have't had an actual look at them...
Ok, so let's back up here as one person said, the media haters, xp fan boys and linux crowd that hated Vista. For what that' s worth and it did seem to have some pull in the media, I think this had some grounds for making Windows 7 with a complete facial makeover.
As far as my install went...
After Vista came I started to really care less, but hey I'm a geek and I love to play around so I wanted to install Windows 7 and have a look.
How do you like what you see so far, let us know your gripes too.
My list:
1. Vista was a flop so why even make Windows 7 even remotely look alike...

I don't like anything hardly anymore with the name Adobe on it, to much damm bloat, and bloody slow as hell too.
A few years back Adobe wasn't so bad, but recently they've really been pouring on the bloat. I wish someone...
Sorry I wasn't technically correct with my wording, I meant Adobe Acrobat Pro, I'm looking for an alternative to it...
I'm not a newbie, I'm an old geek, don't need any Adobe lessons, but thanks all the same, hehe...
Ok now we're clear right? ;)
P.S. So far I've played with Foxit, and...
