I bought it just to help out the developer, Greg. Just so everyone knows, EA here is Early Access NOT Electronic Arts. He’s worked on this game for the past 7 years and is its sole developer. This is not some big company/game development powerhouse but an indie developer that’s doing great...
Lots of articles out there on this. Example: https://hothardware.com/news/oled-display-breakthrough-eliminate-burn-in
May take a little while to trickle into current displays, but should put the burn-in issue to rest for good.
I still feel the whole burn-in issue is waaaay overblown. My LG...
The thing about tech is that it always advances - becomes cheaper/faster/more capable as time marches on. These price “scares” and supply doom and gloom write-ups always seem to go no where. If it gets bad, manufacturing capacity goes into overdrive and self corrects… may take a little time...
Oh, dreams are fine. Keep right on dreaming - no need to wake up, unless it is to buy more ship bundles to feed Robert's machine that is. :)
There's just not a whole lot to do with those ships inside a limited, non-optimized, bug ridden alpha test demo is all... one that's been in...
Had Apple been smart, they would have priced it at something like $899 instead, taking a fairly large loss per sale, but making up for this by generating instant and massive market share gains in the VR/AR space in a very short amount of time. They’d also be able to lower their sales losses...
At least the showcase has tangible goods that contestants get to take home if they win... With Robert, not so much. More like playing the game of repeatedly handing over your cash for wishes, hopes and dreams.
So I guess their thinking is that if you are already $10K in the hole from past ship "investments", then you are dumb enough to go for a new $48K ship bundle package?
Bought but haven’t played Baldurs Gate 3 and Cyberpunk 2077. Figured they are now well baked as to patches/bug fixes. Looking forward playing them over the holiday season…
I also have a Varjo Aero (upgraded from a Valve Index after Varjo finally dropped their prices to a more reasonable level.)
My PC VR journey started with a HTC Vive, then a Oculus Rift, then the Valve Index. Now the Aero. Currently powered with what's in my sig below.
I'm very happy with...
Did the same - upgraded from a Pixel 7 Pro to a Pixel 8 Pro + free Pixel 2 watch. While not a massive upgrade, I feel the improved screen, cameras (which are already amazing) and a bit better performance/battery life will be worth it.
Looking forward to playing it, but in no rush. Will let it air out a bit once released - as it will probably need a good 4+ months to get past the slew of patch cycles it will need to address all the release bugs and added fixes. This is Bethesda, and as a major release, I'm pretty sure it...
A new BIOS just dropped for the Dark Hero. Get it while it's hot!

Going on 9 months now with zero issues. Pretty much the same stance from my last post on this. The design works, but the built-in safety margins for handling a sligtly sub-par connection or solder joint simply just doesn't cut it, hence all the reported issues. Still think they should have gone...
A new BIOS (non beta!) just dropped for the Dark Hero. Get it while it's hot!

If used regularly, I'd say 10 years is a good run. Caps sort of have a tendency to start crapping out at that point. May go a bit longer, but then you are running a dinosaur and can forget about playing most newer/modern games.
I’d caveat that to “which most older games are”… Multiple core CPUs have pretty much become the norm and many newer games are starting to leverage their capabilities, so I wouldn’t necessarily count out multicore performance, especially when it comes to future gaming.
Soft. Hard tubing isn't really [H]ard, it's more just for show/art and does nothing for performance/function. Hard tubing is less secure/robust and is much more prone to leaks due to material failure. Done right, it can really look great, but again, it's all for show.
The bang for the buck leap right now coming from a Q6600 based rig is till going to be MUCH higher with a X570-5800x3d combo then latching onto the very latest X670E/Zen4 CPU/DDR5. Doing a solid budget conscious upgrade now will easily get you where you want to be with gaming/VR. And rather...
Based on OP’s desire to keep the upgrade wallet hit in the sub $1000 range, this is solid advice. And will be a pretty big jump up from the Q6600. Going to an X670E mb with the very latest Zen4 CPU and DDR5 is going to have your wallet emptying out much closer to the $2K range…
Agree - if form factor isn't an issue and you are just after portable speed, then a true SSD dropped into a USB-C drive enclosure is going to give you the best performance.
The various USB standards just set interface protocols and compatibility - I don't believe they set/enforce any required minimum transfer speeds. They do typically provide for more performance capability/throughput though as they progress upwards with each generation, but it is up to the maker...
Why that monitor? For that price, especially if you are primarily gaming on MMORPG's, I'd suggest the LG 42" C2. The size difference between a 27" display and a 42" is also fairly significant.
The LG C2 is glorious @ 120hz playing 4K games. Your CPU also has plenty enough chutzpah to handle...
Good advice here - getting either will utterly kill the balance you now enjoy. You won't be happy with the resulting gaming performance on a new 4K monitor and the new video card would pretty much be wasted on a 1440p monitor. And yes, the 4080 is way overpriced for what it delivers.
I would imagine 4090 AIB allocation will start opening up early next year following the Xmas rush, once back inventory of 3000 series cards has had a chance to further deplete. I can't imagine they'd want to loose sales to AMD's RX 7000 series cards once they start becoming available... Who...
Zero issues here on a water blocked 4090 FE after 2 weeks of heavy use.
Kinda feel this whole thing is overblown and primary stems from a small set of folks simply not having their cables fully inserted and/or bending the connector heavily to the point of compromising plug contacts.
Nvidia...
Bump for you - great price/nice system. If you weren’t a 5+ hour drive away, I’d be sorely tempted to get this for my daughter. (She’s on a gaming laptop)
