Well, I think you'd have a tremendously difficult time replicating the V series hole pattern on a large scale. Look in my sig. It's an awful lot of holes... Would look freakin' sweet though!
Standard answer for you:
-Silverstone TJ07 or TJ09
-Lian Li V1200 or V2000
-Coolmaster Stacker 830 Series
-Thermaltake Kandalf
-Others will say Lian Li G70, or Coolermaster CM Stacker. Not bad choices.
-Steer clear of the Antec P180. Feels like cheap junk; especially the door.
-If...
I picked up one of the 631's as well for $25. Likely be used in a build for a buddy. For the price, it competes. Wish the Al were a bit thicker on the panels, etc, and that the finish were a bit better, esp on the hdd rack. That and fewer rivets, more screws. For the price and purpose, it's...
In general:
!) Apple (MacBook- Look in the Clearance Deals section of Apple Store online)
2) Dell (Dude...); Gateway; Lenovo
Just another thought... I've not seen good things from HP's consumer level notebooks in terms of quality (buttons on touch pads are junk!), but they may have...
As ^ he mentioned, you Alt-Tab out of the game. Ctrl-Alt-Delete to bring up the task manager. Processes tab. Right click on your game executable and click "Set Affinity". Uncheck "1" and close the task manager. You are good to go!
I just picked up a Zalman VF900 GPU hsf from coolerguys (garage sale item) for $19 + ship. There was only one :( ... sorry guys. Seemed like a good deal, and it was an impulse buy for me. Is that a pretty good deal?
Likely true. Not sure what his budget will be. May have to step down to something like a 7600GT.
To the OP- I should also note that you'll need a heatsink since that processor is OEM.
Ditto to above poster. I'll be watching this thread too, because I'm getting ready to build one for my gf's little brother!!
I'm probably getting a Brisbane 3600+ X2 with the Biostar T-550 mobo combo deal. You should check that out. Lot's of people recommend the X1950 pro for that price...
Yikes, yeah, that's pretty hot. Guess what! 700Mhz * 2 = 1.4Ghz. It's the same number, with the lower being the actual and the higher being the effective clock rate (since it uses GDDR2-double data rate ram)
I didn't overclock much on stock cooling, but I tossed a cheap Zalman VF700 on it...
I have a Gigabyte GA-M57SLI-S4 in the rig in my sig. 100% pleased with it. I can't advise on the Nforce4 deal though. Forum goers convinced me not to go with the older tech...
You could use Goo Gone or other. Trouble is it may leave a residue.
Try this (it really works.): Get very close and breath warm/moist air on the sticker and slowly begin peeling. Breath more ( on the underside). If you go slowly, that will take care of business.
The keyboard connection you have is an AT connection. I'm typing on an AT keyboard with a PS2 adapter at this moment. Working great! Good luck on the P1 problem. I want my retro computers back... :(
2 or 3 have me beat by a pretty good margin, but I have an old Dell with an ATI Rage 128 32Mb card. I play some UT01 Game of the Year, old Commander Keen, Duke Nukum, Missile Command :p, Wolfenstein 3D, Fracas, etc.
I know exactly what you mean. When it came time to build myself a new computer last fall, I loved the Sapphire x800GTO2 to death because it was a really good price and was unlockable. But sadly, it just wasn't current. Based on older tech. Such is the way of things.
Freakin' awesome. I love it. Do you have casters on that thing? You should. You could build a whole LCD mount/keyboard/mouse surface on top. And a recliner. :D
General consensus is that the NOCTUA will be your best performer. In my experience, the Yate Loons are perfect. Quiet and cheap.
For a fan controller, this one is good. Available in silver and black.
JR
 :D
If I don't find a black one very soon, I may pick up a cheap silver and try to mod it into a stock Lian Li drive bay cover... Or... buy a silver, and see if I could "scratch it up" and pay for a black replacement. Hmmm.
That's what I was afraid of... Any other ideas?
I finally decided to get the Chameleon light kit to go in my V1200B. Wouldn't you know! The version with the black faceplate is sold out everywhere I look. I was going to get it from Performance-PCs, but it is no longer available. Sunbeam doesn't have an online store. No Newegg, FrozenCPU...
Nice! One quick thought: I like to see cables run parallel and at right angles, when you have to see them. Run the 2 round PATA together and straight toward the front of the case parallel to the bottom. (In a perfect world, we'd all use flat PATA cables, and cut holes in our motherboard trays...
