Oh dear, that long! Month ago I e-mailed NEC Sweden and asked about release date. They didn't even bother to answer.

Great news. Finally it can be ordered. Too bad it still takes almost one month before delivery begins. And who knows how long it takes to get one here in Europe. Meanwhile there should be some reviews out.

Eizo's top of the line ColorEdge models have S-IPS panels. And boy oh boy are they pricey.

That's true. Here in Finland the 26" Nec is priced at 1700 euros and the 24" LG about 1000 euros... Prices are probably going to change after the displays are released here. Nec is clearly targeted at professional users and serious hobbyists.

Hmmm. New 26" Nec S-IPS display is starting to look more interesting day after day...

Oh dear. Why does there have to be MVA and S-IPS model...? There is probably no knowing which model I get if I order one, short of opening the monitor and checking the panel type. None of the dealers around here seem to mention which model they offer...

Does anyone know yet what is the price of 24" model?

I haven't found much information about Philips 230WP7NS's input lag, but my understanding is that generally *VA panels have worse input lag than S-IPS panels. Samsung 244t uses S-PVA panel.

As Snowdog pointed out above, Philips 230WP7NS uses newer panel than Sony.

Isn't 6-bit more common among TN panels? At TFT Central news it says "8 bit colors".

Most likely not, because LG is 24-inch and Cinema Display is 23-inch. The specs of these two displays are also different.

Well, I contacted Philips customer service and asked about the panel model. They could only tell it is S-IPS, but had no information about exact panel model. :( I am probably going to get one anyway as it seems to be best available display for me.

Ah yes - that is one of my worries with Apple displays. Lot of PC users have reported that POST screens (like bios and dos prompt) cannot be displayed at all. I have Nvidia card, but I would rather not risk this possibility. This is not a problem for Mac users, since Mac doesn't have POST...

One might think that using same panel would lead to same end result. But it might be different too. Apple could use different components. Maybe that's where any possible differences come from. Anyway, Philips offers more for a PC user because of more connections (both analog and DVI), on screen...
