Is it a B3 or G0 stepping? I supposed by "all the thermal throttling turned off" you mean features like Speedstep (often called other things depending on bios)? They are not really throttling but a power saving feature. However I think the CPU will throttle down or turn off at the Tjunction or...
Yes, you should definitely remove the old AS5. You can use Isoprophanol, acetone (the one without any form of oil etc.). There are other compounds that can be used too. Check the PDF for instructions.

I ordered one of those for my Q6600 G0 today. I hope it's as good as I think it is. I've also heard that the included paste is supposed to be pretty good, for some even better than AS5. I just assumed AS5 was much better before but now you start to wonder.
Sure, it's there but if you notice it probably depends on a lot of things like monitor you hade before etc., Good or bad eye sight has nothing to do with it though. Also, you can get used to the ghosting of your specific monitor which makes you almost not notice it unless you think about it.
Interesting. That's the first report I seen about getting them in the US. If you want to check what panel it is, the service menu won't help anymore. It will just give you a code. Maybe you can post that code here though.
About image quality: The best panel is definately S-IPS, stay away from TN-panels.
About ghosting: S-IPS is both the one with the best color reproduction and slowest repsonstime. However it's still pretty low, especially since it seems at least some of the monitors using S-IPS are listing...
I until very recently had an old Dell 17" (1702FP) with 40ms from december 2002. Now I have a Dell 2007WFP and there is a quite noticable difference. However, I gotten used to the ghosting from that monitor so I had no problem playing games with it. Now, with the new monitor you get a differant...
Sorry about that. I just made the logical conclusion that since the 24" didn't use that, the 30" wasn't either. It seems nothing is logical in the world of LCD's. ;) :D 30" S-IPS sounds like one bad ass monitor. :D
xeefus: I guess you have to use a converter from HDMI to DVI. Sounds like a...
Well, I might have exagerated slightly. Though your post made it sound like they were always sold with S-PVA, which is not the case. Most all of them are still S-IPS, only a few are S-PVA. I simply meant that you post was misleading. Also, when exchanging them within the first 15 days or...
You are totally wrong. Only a small part of them use S-PVA, most of them use the same S-IPS panel as the one in the US and Canada. If you get an S-PVA you can exchange it until you get an S-IPS. Even better, in Europe the new revision A03 of 2007WFP is available. It's not in the rest of the...
It's completely different. I'm pretty sure they use a TN-panel and it doesn't even look the same. Pretty uncomparable I would say if you care for color representation and such, but compared to other monitors with TN-panels it may very well be a nice monitor. I also think it lacks some of the...
Well, there is something ChrisM, the moderator called the "exchange game". You should see what other people have done on the Dell forum.

Yeah, someone invented that name. :D

I think it's a fantastic monitor. If you're not happy you can always return it. Probably have to pay for the shipping back though.
I got mine last week here in Sweden. It's revision A03 (a brand new revision) and I seem to have gotten an S-IPS as you can see in the thread about the panel lottery. For this new revision they started using internal codes for the panels inte the service menu.
I experiance no visible...
Really you can't compare TN-panels and S-IPS. The only thing TN has going for it is responstime and price. Color reproduction isn't compareable to S-IPS and probably not to P-MVA either. You should also remember that responstime for TN-panels is pretty much always listed for Grey-to-Grey. For...
I was the one who posted on the Dell forum about my RT803. I see all the color change when looking in extreme angles as I've seen S-IPS users report and taken pictures of. More reports on this would be great.
