Windows SATA speed on any other of the Xeon 5100 workstations being offered by Boxx or Dell is normal, while on the Mac Pro, SATA drives run somewhat faster than an internet connection.
Guys:
A PC graphics card will work just fine in a Mac Pro - in Windows.
You'll still need to be using the 7300GT to drive your display when you're using Mac OS X because Mac OS X is blind to non-EFI graphics cards while Windows isn't.
Man, anybody got news about when the X1900-equipped Mac Pros are shipping? Somebody on the Appleinsider forums said that a sales rep they had talked to said they'd be shipping this week...
Why do you guys think that you are somehow entitled to a perfect display when there isn't a single manufacturer who will accept a return for under three dead pixels?
Oh, who am I kidding, return it till you get a perfect one. :D
That said, if you've got to have a deady, there's the right...
The NEC a) might be a slighly newer revision of the LG panel the Dell uses (the WE2) and b) uses overcharging and a few other tricks to get more out of it.
Oh, and did I mention that it has full 8-bit color and no banding, something the Dell didn't manage under any revision unfortunately?
Very nice, thanks. The prices on Froogle have gone down about $20 in a few weeks, when I actually buy it in August I suppose it'll be even less expensive.
My god, these things are expensive, but I really think that it's the only display I'll end up being satisfied with in the long run for both gaming and design work. Is there any way of getting one of these suckers for under the lofty list price of $600? Ebay seems to be selling them higher if...
Is this in succession to S-IPS and AS-IPS? It also could be that they're using (their own) panel that the NEC uses and then overcharging or whatever for the better response time.
I recently heard about a bunch of new LG LCD flat panels being released, has anybody bought one or found out anything about them beyond these few articles? I'd be interested to see how the LG 204WT stacks up against that expensive NEC that everybody loves so much...
I know that A02 exists and is supposedly the standard for all new Dell 2007FPW displays manufactured, but does A02 even fix the banding once and for all?
I don't care about gaming and multimedia modes or whatever else there is, I just want to know:
Is it possible to get a banding-free...
Let's look at it this way:
You do not need SLI to play the latest games at decent details.
You do not need SLI to drive the desktop resolutions found on 30" flat panel LCDs.
You do need SLI to play the latest games at decent details at the resolutions found on 30" flat panel LCDs...
Do the gaming/multimedia modes just pump up contrast and result in banding in shadows etc? Like dragging the contrast up in Photoshop resulting in a "rougher" image?
Yeah, I find it actually kind of a turnoff when buying a display. Like, if it has integrated speakers, I'm more likely to consider another display over it. It just ekes cheapness.
