I picked up a used powerbook G4 on craigslist for $10 a few days ago. Its certainly far from the newest and it can't run the latest version of OSX, but it'll at least allow you to experience what a mac is like and tinker with it - for next to nothing.
I was having similar issues with my Xonar Essence about a year ago. I noticed that if i rotated the headphone plug while in the jack, there was slight static and changes in volume. I applied some contact cleaner to my headphone plug, stuck it in and out of the port a few times (no jokes...
Anyone else notice how the textures look sharper than what you find in most games today... and Unreal was meant to be played on a Voodoo1 with 2mb of texture memory.
The display remembers whatever brightness it was last set at. If you can find another computer to plug it into using USB, you can set the brightness there, and then bring it back to your main PC and it will stay at that brightness. Or just find someone with any mac (laptop or desktop), and do...
The Apple stores in my area are loaded with movies on the hard drive for your viewing pleasure. And even if they aren't, just head over to apple.com/trailers, and try any of the 1080p trailers there and see what happens.
You can also bring games loaded on a USB stick or portable hard drive...
Do you have an apple store nearby? If yes, just stop on by and take a look at the 27" iMacs, which have the same exact panel. You can even install stuff on them like games if you want to be really through in your inspection.
Most of us here will assure you that you won't have any complaints...
I love the way the dungeons all have this unique, hand crafted feel (something that Oblivion didn't have). However, it seems Skyrim took a serious step backwards when it came to quests. The quests are few in number, and what few exist are very boring. Oblivion may have had its flaws, but it...
Is the space combat at least a simulation, like it was back in the Starfleet Command era games back in the 90's? You know, adjusting power between different systems, priority to repairs, etc..
The only blurring/smearing i've ever noticed is in top-down games such as Starcraft when I am panning around the map, or 2d sidescrollers; and even then its minimal. Although i'm sure its still occurring in other games as well, I have never once noticed it, nor has it detracted from the game...
When I think "adventure game", i'm thinking of of the oldschool adventure games such as Monkey Island, Kings Quest, etc. Skyrim is NOT one of those types of games.
The world is also completely open to explore, and it has no set rules on who you have to talk to in any particular order. Games...
Oh man, anyone remember Instagib Bombing run in low grav for UT04? Most fun i've ever had in a FPS game!
I'm looking forward to the new Tribes revival.
The ACD remembers the last brightness setting you used. So you should be able to plug it into your PC or Mac and set the brightness to whatever you require, then hook it up to your PS3 and get the same brightness setting. You do NOT need to hook up the USB cord to your PS3, only your PC when...
Good game overall, but still no where as good as the original. There were just too many things dumbed down, the story seemed detached at times, and the interface was very awkward to use, especially the inventory screen. I also don't seem much in the ways of replayability, despite it having...
I would certainly be getting the K60 *IF* it came with a full sized wrist rest. As is it, I feel its pretty useless, because typing with one hand on a rest and the other way down on your desk is going to feel very strange. And I can't imagine too many people using their keyboards for FPS...
I actually don't think the environments look all that bad. Overdone with the bloom lighting and saturation effects? Sure. But overall the environments look decent.
What DOESN'T look good in my opinion are the character models. They look sub par for a 2011 title, and its depressing because...
It should translate very well to the Wii, where the IR pointer can be used just the same way as the mouse pointer. Just point at the screen, and A and B can be bound to primary and secondary skills. Should work surprisingly well!
Unfortunately, I doubt this will ever happen.
This works great:

You can also just set it to goto sleep after a certain amount of inactivity in the power options.
USB headphones will not use your internal soundcard. They have their own sound card "chip" built into the headphone which will process the sound, and will show up as a separate audio device under windows.
Their refurb store still has plenty of the displayport equipped ACD displays available, for anyone who may still want to pick one up. Its probably a better bet than waiting for someone to create an adapter.
I'm a little confused. Are you saying that if you finished the game, want to play it over again on say, a harder difficulty level, you can't because its already beaten? Forget used game sales, that would outrage just about anyone - a game that can only be played once?
Your other option if you prefer Nvidia cards, is to get any 5xx line (560, 570, 580) that features displayport out, and purchase a MiniDP -> DP adapter such as this one. Works perfectly.
1.) Larger pixels will great a move pixelated, low resolution look. It will not really affect sparkle.
2.) Black space between pixels will create a noticeable "screen door effect". It does not affect sparkle.
3.) Distance shouldn't have much of an effect
4.) This is the big one IMO...
Having been using CRT displays for my entire life, I did not have any trouble transitioning to a glossy LCD display. Of course, even CRT displays have some kind of anti glare coating (the same kind that you can get on a pair of eye glasses, which turns glare/reflections a kind of dull green and...
