I have an old PC, so I don't "need" a PC but could use a faster one.
I don't mind waiting but don't want to wait years either.
There is always better technology/cheaper prices on the horizon.
When I put down when i wanted the pc as "now to a couple months,"
I thought I'd slowly buy parts...
i suppose that makes sense. thanks for the suggestion.
Thank you for your suggestions, I don't expect to buy a new monitor, because I don't know what to do with my old one...
Assuming I keep my current monitor, what video card would you suggest?
Also thanks for all those case...
1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
PC gaming (some old games d3, dota2, lol, and maybe if I have time some new ones), streaming to PS3. Not exactly sure why I want a new PC, just that I do. Maybe because my pc is the same PC listed in my signature from...
I was using it as 2gb for a while in my cellphone, then I got this "great idea" to remove some system protected files by formatting the card and this is what resulted. I was trying to get rid of some music and videos that could not be deleted, so I thought I'd try to format the card on my pc...
Hello,
I have a microSD card that used to be 2gb and now it's only 947MB. I bought up the format menu and clicked next and it formatted before I realised the capacity was selected lowered then it's max. Is there anyway to wipe off everything and bump the capacity back to 2gb?
thanks.
thanks, I found both Coax and TOSLINK, is there a difference between them in sound quality or something else?
For SPDIF ports (coax / toslink) on mobo - I will have to find the correct drivers to make onboard sound work - I'm running windows 7 and nvidia doesn't have windows 7 drivers for my...

1. the pc can output video to the tv, sound to the home theatre?
2. ps3 outputs sound to the home theatre and video to the tv?

thanks for telling me about new gpus coming out soon...
any advice on cases similar to the p183?
if it makes a difference i'm going to run windows 7 on it.
The purpose I suppose is to mainly watch movies and play games on a 1080p TV, but i suppose i'd be using another monitor for actual computer stuff at 1680x1050. Once in a while I would do video / photo editing and encoding (of gaming vids). The rest is basic stuff everyone else does.

new pc, just wondering if any readers would swap components out for something else

quick questions, I know there can be uneven back lighting in LCDs, does the problem exist for plasmas?
Same question for backlight bleeding, is it a problem for plasmas? (maybe it's the same thing?)
Can plasmas have dead pixels too? is it as frequent as LCDs?
update: downloaded multiple times, not working :S... read WHQL 185.85 Nvidia drivers are out ( 1 2 3 ) thread (http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1417184) and saw a lot of people reverting back to 182.50 so i got those drivers and using them for now. everything is fine.
when i tried to install the newest nvidia display drivers 185.85, i downloaded them for 32bit vista (185.85_desktop_winvista_32bit_english_whql.exe) and I am running 32 bit vista, but I get an error saying that the drivers detect i'm not vista 32 bit :( anyone else run into this problem?
i guess i should have included this:

What kind of surge protection do you use on your TVs / audio equipment?
is it ok to plug the tv into a battery backup? sometimes there's flickers of no power here, obviously if it's prolonged i'd turn the tv off. I was recommended not to do that with the audio equipment since it can draw a...
thanks for everyone's suggestions so far.

Thanks. One thing I can't ignore for HDs is reliability, and I have used only seagates / WD in the past. So I don't know how reliable samsung is, the only thing I got to work by is what people say and that it only offers a 3 year vs 5 year warranty from seagate and certain WD HDs.
from a...
I am looking for more space (aren't we all?) :P
i don't know if i should get 2x 640gb wd or like a 1tb hd (the seagate 1.5tb hd i read has problems and is expensive), I'm not sure which are better performers. I looked on storage review but i couldn't locate any information there about the...
