after hearing some people have problems with the Nocti in the W520 and W530 I returned the Nocti for a Muskin Atlas 120 gig msata. It is based of a sandforce 2281 controller that works in the W series. The msata slot is limited to Sata II so unfortunately I cant get the full performance of...
I just ordered my W530. Going to slap in a 120gig ocz nocti msata. 2x 1tb hdds 16 gigs of ram aftermarket. I got it with the Quadro K2000m 9 cell battery and the 28 cell slice. 20 hours plus battery life is dead sexy.:D I can let you know when I get it in. 3 year warranty on site with...
I read the anandtech review and it mentioned the difficulties with power supplies over 140mm
I have several Q08's That I use for servers. I use This to use to gain more space for power supply clearance. After the pictures I saw in the review I think the lian li power supply extension would work...
Dont forget the free shipping. On a case this heavy its a huge thing. :D
I was already tossing around selecting this case as my new standard chassis. I needed to replace 3 existing cases. This sealed the deal for me. unit price after code + free shipping + good design and layout =...
How about this..
raise the base warranty back to 3 years and for the love of god bring back the 5 year warranty especially on your enterprise storage.
That being said about frigging time we have larger 2.5" drives. My 3x 1tbs in my laptop are nearly full. 2 tb + for the win:D
you sir hit the nail on the head. Cell phones are not a freedom or a right. The people who complain about the idea of cell phone jamming because of emergency's must not realize that before cell phones humanity did just fine.
Cell phone usage is a convince nothing more.
As long as you have users you can never really be secure. All it takes is one human mistake and bam the best security is useless.
As my favorite IT saying goes, The Network was perfect.... and then there were users.
I would prefer that the less Hollywood has to do with anime the the better. They can only make things worse. Let Genon or other companies license the anime for prime time release and let it get to the masses that way. Of course I would prefer it in Japanese with subs, but I would tolerate...
I realize that they are owned by either seagate or wd. As far as i know the warranty on the drives has not changed yet (I could be wrong). They will most likely change when the storage groups are fully integrated with their new host companies. Fortunately there is still a limited window that...
Use brazostweaker Link to figure out your various pstates. I use it to under volt and under clock my netbook to get better battery life. (you can eek out 20-45 or more minutes of battery life by using it.)
Well i think Samsung and Hitachi still have 3 year warranty's but the blacks are really only the ones that still have 5 years. I wish that lowering the warranties was just a temporary measure because of the shortage. More likely the companies leaped at the opportunity to lower their warranties...
Be extra careful about which drive you buy. Practically all the manufactures have changed their warranty policy's. I personally would never by a large capacity drive with anything less than a 3 year warranty. I would prefer 5 year warranty but you will rarely find that outside enterprise...
holy hell that actually worked? I though i was crazy using a AT to ps/2 adapter then a ps/2 to usb adapter. to use a IBM mechanical keyboard. It never really did work, but I'm impressed you got your adapter chain working. I love complex, convoluted solutions to problems. :D
AT - PS/2 +...
Despite all the hate for symatec products. I use Ghost Solution Suite every day and it should not be lumped in with the crappy consumer products. I have been using it for years it should command respect in my opnion. It sure is a hell of alot better than any other imaging / deployment system...
I haven't put too much effort into this so far just a preliminary run at this point. I am new to turbo mode so while i have messed with overdrive before i dont know how to monkey with the turbo mode. I am behind the times in the ocing world i guess using bios to overclock fsb/htt is out of style.
I just upgraded one of my secondary machines from a Kuma 7750 -> 1035t. I got 3.2 @ 250fsb out of mine and Im only using a ultima 90 with dual 120mm's:D I got it on sale at new egg for $120. yes the Black editions could clock higher but for over 50 bucks more.
This weekend i finished modifying my support bracket for the mini pci-e slot. I can use the lower sata port on my controller. If you use a right angle sata cable you can even still use dimm slot number 1. It is a tight fit but it is possible to do.
Well i have had more time to spend with...
I had a brain fart and did not notice it could be detached off the back plate until after the pins were destroyed.
..... Much swearing, and gnashing of teeth was involved
Motherboard Pictures
I will need to mod the bracket to clip back the metal so i can use the bottom sata port on the mini pci-e controller. Using a right angle cable it is possible to utilize bottom port i originally though i would not due to the dimm slot proximity but it will work...
As promised here are the pics
First up here is the bracket before modding
Here is the modded bracket
Here is the bracket on the board
Here is the bracket over that troublesome components
I hope those pictures help answer any question about the h50 mod. The hardest part for me...
Oh how i wish i realized that before fubaring my connector with that damn adapter. I noticed this myself only after realizing what had happened. Well given the cable routing i needed to do and the fact the pins are insanely small/brittle chances are i would have done it with the bracket zotac...
Okay perlimanry reports are in.
I got the h50 mounted after a relativly painless mod. The hardest part of the mod was finding the right tools to mod the bracket and not destroy it. It had been a while since i mounted a h50 so that caused a little head scratching. Once i figured out the...
Very interesting. I use the Intel WiDi on my m17xR3 all the time in hotels and it has a leg up using the Intel quicksync to transcode the video on the fly but you are saddled with the requirement of the Intel hd 3000 so gaming performance suffers. Any word on what radio band it uses. My guess...
I will take some photos when i get it built but Im still waiting on parts. I hear the mod for the backpate for the h50 is easy (there are components on the back of the board by the cpu socket). I will see how it stacks out. i have some thin fans (12mm) I might even be able to manage push pull...
Well i hope to end run around the crap shoot. Superbiiz has a promotion code for free assembly and testing of new systems. For free they can assemble and test your parts. I am having them test for bad ram slots. I'm hoping that issue can be weeded out during testing. It also will make sure...
I agree native all the way but who knows when a Intel chipset with native usb 3.0 support will make it to ITX land let alone native os support. It will be in Windows 8 for sure but we may get lucky and see it in windows 7 in a future service pack.
I do plan on the usb 3.0 adapter as a fallback plan but in any case after i add additional two drives i will end up having to use them. The nice thing about the adapter is is practically designed for internal use. Ala slim design standard with sata power internal power plug for the bridge chip.
I know, your one of my primary inspirations. At least i know it can be done. The Startech controller has the same chipset as the commell but it don't know if it will use the same bios or if it will be bootable. Startech's website makes me believe it can. But only trial and error will know...
I actually got it cheaper than newegg at provantage for $40. I just used newegg to link to as they had pictures. Nice thing is standard sata ports plus the Sil3132 chipset is port multiplier aware. Thanks for the info though. Boot support is unknown at this point but i intend to find out...
I am currently rebuilding my HTPC and I thought I would share some experiences.
My primary goals in rebuilding my htpc are add more storage to my existing htpc while adding efi bios support for <3tb hdd support, including having usb 3.0 and esata. While simultaneously adding a little cpu...
