I am the OP. I have been running an Opteron 165 at 300fsb x 9 at 1.35v since last March. The only problem I had initially was the inability of displaying on my HDTV correctly via DVI. Upgrading to a newer ATI driver took care of that.
I have a Biostar Tforce 6100 running an Optern 144 at...

I have both Fusion5 and Avermedia A180 in my system. They work fine. The A180 are being used with and without MCE2005. The Fusion5 is used without MCE.
I used Watchdtv program for the A180 when running without MCE2005.
As part of the FCC's digital tv movement, the major cable companies were supposed to send unencrypted digital Must-Carry channels on their networks. Simply put, the must-carry channels are the channels the customers are able to get via OTA antenna (In reality, it is a lot more complex than...
In metro Boston MA, Comcast sends a lot of open HDTV/digital signals over basic cable. A lot them are digitized SD channels, but the national networks are usually in HD during prime time. Also there are 4 PBS channels available too ( 1 HD and 3 SD channels). For over 2 years, I can also...

According to the National Center for Health Statistics, the average weight for an adult female in the United States is: 162.9 pounds. At 5 feet 4 inch, that is 20+ lb overweight! :p
This is not the fault of this board.
Almost all the boards has variable speed control with just its CPU fan header. All the other fan headers don't have variable speed control.
To get variable speed, you need three things: Bios with fan speed control, fan headers with variable speed...
You are right. May be my post was off topic.
I just want to point out the potential problem for rebate when Monarch's invoice date is the (presumed) shipping date instead of the purchase date. For a rebate with a narrow eligibility window, it is problematic.
Boy, I hate those rebates come along with these short-term Hot Deals.
I brought 1GB PC-3200 OCZ Platinum for $119 with $40 rebate during one of these sales. The rebate was for purchase made on March 1 to Apr 2. I brought it on March 31st. But Monarch's Invoice has a April 3rd date. I...
Clockgen should work but it may have trouble identify the PLL chip. You can find the PLL chip located around the CPU. It should say ICS 9514xx. I think it is ISC 951446. Go back to clockgen and input the PLL chip name and you should be fine. Other people have reported Clockgen working...
The so-called fix is for stopping rebooting when Power button was pressed. The ONLY jumper needed to change is the one behind the KB/Mouse (to 5vsb). I don't know what the other jumpers would do.
I really don't know if this is the solution. I am just repeating what I've read. The jumper is on the upper left hand concer, right behind the KB and Mouse connector. Connecting 2-3 pin on the JP7 jumper would allow wake-on-ps/2 kb/mouse. See user manual pg 43.
From dfi-street.com, some DFI mb has problem with certain KBs which then caused random reboot. RS482 was not mentioned as one of the MBs that have this problem.
According the the DFI resident expert there, the way to fix it is to move the jumper to 5v stand-by (for the KB).
I think...
Had similar problem when I first installed the driver. The way I fixed it was to uninstall all the driver and installed the driver that comes with the OS (not the install disk or from Realtek website). Go to Device Driver --> click on the unstalled unknow device -> update driver -> .... Do...
I had 2 Tforce6100 and 1 RS482. Both Tforce6100 could do 325-333 fsb whereas the RS482 tops out at 318-320fsb. Tforce6100 is actually a better OC'er.
The reason I am concentrating on building a HTPC around RS482 is for its DVI/Component output, and lower chipset temp (means quiet) . The...
Tough question to give a simple answer.
Assuming you mean graphic chipsets, I would say nVidia just because it has PureVideo decoder software (not free) that would work with most of the nvidia graphic cards. The same is not true for Ati. This is coming from a DFI RS482 (ati) user--me.
I have not played any game with this MB yet, but have been watching HDTV with it. And I did not have any random reboot problem. I am running Opteron 165 @ 2.83ghz @ stock voltage, MCE2005, ATI Wonder Elite, Avermedia A180 HDTV tuner. I have a Scythe Ninja with its fan used as a case fan (and...
Jen has OCZ memory problem with this mb. I have two new PC4000 OCZ sticks, they work fine. Before, I have two cheap Patriot sticks that would not with my other DFI NF3 but works with RS482 if they are in the slots closest to the CPU, even though the manual said they could be in slot 1&2 or...
The 550 Pro cards are around $75 and come with a remote that is generally compatible with MCE and other applications.
7 to choose from. They are all the same card other than packaging...
It is not the wattage you draw, it is the fact that your PSU is not designed to run fanless that would be the problem.
There are a few fanless PSU available on the market, but they all sport hugh heatsinks to get the heat out.
The main benefit for the Theater Pro is the 550 Pro encode chip which has the best analog picture you can find in the mass market oriented graphic/tuner cards.

I have just installed Scythe Ninja on my DFI RS482. Instead of mounting the 12cm Scythe fan on the HS, I used it as a case fan. And I used a few pieces of normal paper to roughly built an air duct connecting the fan to the nearest face of the HS. The fan is then connected to the CPU fan...

Use ATITool 0.25 (Beta 14 ?) to OC the IGP. The IGP can be OC'ed from 300mhz to 450 stable. I did not need to add additional cooling to the NB as temp is below 50c loaded.
Yes, I brought one for $44 ship last week. I am getting another now. There is a possibility this is some kind of price mistake -- kinda like forget to charge for shipping. Newegg checks its prices againist its competitors all the time, so this sale could be over anytime.
over newegg.com. Better than the $44 sale a few days ago.

The closest price I saw was from jab-tech @ $43+ $6-7 ship.
EDIT: Newegg'd just raised the price to $40 and added $5 shipping charge.
