Yeah, I've tried just about everything in between 266 and 400. :-P
I forget exactly what the lowest vCore you can set is, but it's just over 1.2v. 1.2125, I believe.
Yeah, I got the 0507 earlier today. Didn't help a bit.
Although, you can now push the NB voltage up to 1.65! That should be a huge improvement, for those who don't seem to be stuck like I am.
So, no one has any suggestions as to what I could be doing wrong?
After I couldn't push the...
If a motherboard with a chipset SPECIFICALLY designed for Conroe support doesn't support Conroe, than there is a serious problem.
They aren't just supposed to support Conroe, they don't need a flash - the initial BIOS for these boards are designed with Conroe support.
Regardless of what...
Makes sense. The P5B is listed as:
Memory
CPU
FSB Termination (I was told not to touch this - is that correct??)
Northbridge
Southbridge
ICH
I haven't touched the southbridge or ICH, since they're not affected by the overclock.
See, I just want at least 400 - I know other people can do it, and my week 25 E6400 should be able to get there.
I've seen the same posts, but unless MCH voltage is known as something else, (is this the same as northbridge?) then I have no idea. If it IS the northbridge, I still have no luck...
Ok, so some people have had great experiences with this board. I just read on xtreme about someone hitting over 500fsb without mods.
Does anyone else have MY luck? I can hit 370 without an issue. A hair above that, and the board won't post.
I have the latest BIOS, 0505 - supports changing...
For gaming - There IS an improvement, in memory and cpu limited games. But, 2 issues I have with really extracting this thing's potential:
1 - I have but a single 7900GT. Woe is me. :P All of the newer games are still WAY GPU limited anyway.
2 - Most of the games I actually play aren't...
My question is, in light of NewEgg's "awesome" customer service.... How many of you 'Egg supporters paid the extra $100 or so to get your Conroe from NewEgg?
My point exactly.
edit: Don't get me wrong, I like Newegg. I've never had a problem ordering from them, etc. But there are way too...
Coming from my A64 3200+ @ 2.8ghz, it feels pretty good.
Everything you do is instant - BUT, it really was instant before. My Athlon was definitely not slow.
In general operating, you really don't notice a huge difference. (aside from the dual core/multitasking aspect), but that's because...
I do agree with you, but I also agree with him, to a point. He is right, in this day and age, companies don't care. If one product can go for 2x its MSRP, other companies WILL start overcharging if supply becomes short.
On a typical day at the grocery store? Not feasable. People will just go...
Nice! I was just trying to convince a friend to save himself the coin, and get the performance at the same time! :D
It doesn't run too bad at all with DDR1. :)
The cores are still centralized on the dual-core processors. It's still one die - just two cores on the die.
When the Kensfields come out, that will be a different story... 2 die, each die dual-core. I can't wait to see a nekkid one.
Hope that helps! :D
I have NO idea how you managed to get a CPU score that high with a PEE. My friend has the same processor, (stock, mind you) and he's only pushing 1300.
I think something is wrong with your old numbers, personally. Coming from a 2.8Ghz Athlon 64, my 3dmark 06 CPU scores doubled.
I'm running OCZ Platinum XTC DDR2-800 on my P5B deluxe wifi/ap. Haven't had the slightest issue at all, not even on my first boot. This is all on BIOS revision 0402.
It's now overclocked to 915mhz, and still works great, but that's a different story.
Most of the boards out there will take it. Alot of the 965 boards have issues, but they're quickly being resolved.
I know there's a beta BIOS out there for the P5B (0502) that is specifically to enable 7950 support.
Good luck!
Exactly. This thread is retarted.
I personally didn't expect to be able to come within 100ft of a Conroe at launch, let alone actually RECEIVE one. But you know what? I bought one, on a Wednesday, from an e-tailer who had tons in stock, and had received them TWO DAYS BEFORE. I figured they'd...
Hmmm.... curious. Look at my voltage in CPU-Z. It reads that no matter what. I figured it was a 'conroe is new' issue, but everyone else is showing true volts in there. Think it's a p965 issue?
Dropped volts to 3.25, btw. Priming tonight. :)
You don't think your first post was immature? Although just a longer rant, this post was very well-written, in comparison. If you compare this post and your first, it looks like you had a ticked-off 6 year old write your first one.
Regardless though, the FedEx thing is NOT Monarch's fault. I...
Yeah... I had a not-so-great experience with them also. But you know what? A post like this in their [H]otdeals thread doesn't do a thing. It only shows that you're immature. If you actually wanted to have the problem resolved, you'd contact Monarch directly.
No, you just want to complain...
I must say, as much as it seems like people are complaining more and more about Monarch lately, (myself included), they really are trying.
I think they just need to hire a few more people to work the phones/email, etc, and they'd be on-par with the 'egg...
Which, Mr. Monarch, from my point...
Monarch is OK. If you see a great price, grab it from them, but not if you need it quickly. And, don't try contacting them - 2 emails, 2 voicemails, and a PM later, none were replied. After calling several times per day, someone finally answered the phone on the 3rd day. I needed to ask them...
HAH! I own both. The Scythe Ninja weighs LESS than the Zalman. And, as a matter of fact, it even weighs less than a 478 Prescott stock Intel cooler!
The Scythe Ninja is large, but it really is not NEARLY as heavy as everyone seems to think.
See, I don't like FedEx. I've NEVER had a problem with UPS, but I have a problem every single time I have something shipped FedEx. Not to mention, the UPS guy seems to know how to access my building, where the FedEx guy can not.
Otherwise, eagerly awaiting a reply to my PM, Mr. Monarch! :)
