I have NO idea how you managed to get a CPU score that high with a PEE. My friend has the same processor, (stock, mind you) and he's only pushing 1300. I think something is wrong with your old numbers, personally. Coming from a 2.8Ghz Athlon 64, my 3dmark 06 CPU scores doubled.

I'm running OCZ Platinum XTC DDR2-800 on my P5B deluxe wifi/ap. Haven't had the slightest issue at all, not even on my first boot. This is all on BIOS revision 0402. It's now overclocked to 915mhz, and still works great, but that's a different story.

So yeah, seriously... If anyone on here is an Intel employee, I'll GIVE YOU an E6400, for the privalege of buying an x6800 through you ;)

Most of the boards out there will take it. Alot of the 965 boards have issues, but they're quickly being resolved. I know there's a beta BIOS out there for the P5B (0502) that is specifically to enable 7950 support. Good luck!
