Very true... Fortunately my eVGA 7900GT CO that I got via their Step Up plan has been trouble free so far.
I'm rather disappointed that they haven't seen fit to upgrade the cooling solution - mine shipped with the ever-so-dinky reference cooler.
As far as ensuring which card you get...
I'll be getting my "new" eVGA 7900GT CO soon via their "Step Up" program - More like "Trip Up" because it wasn't a particuliarly smooth experience (read - sloooow!), but they got it straighted out...
Interestingly enough, I was given this "uncoached" reason for the delay over the phone & via...
Cool.
I usually upgrade GPU cooling just because, whether I OC 'em or not. Perhaps my 7900GT CO will have one of the upgraded factory coolers.
Man that thing's a LOT bigger!
Er, can someone say heat related problem...?
This kinda illustrates something I've noticed about the 7900GT's since they 1st came out... Is it just me or does that cooling setup just appear to be really undersized for the kinds of speeds these things are clocked at? Regardless of what size...
Hmmm... Seems I like a picked a bad time to send in my 7800GT to trade on an eVGA 7900GT CO via their "Step Up" plan.
Hopefully, the delay in them shipping it to me is a result of them making sure that I get one that works.
But it is good to hear about how they take care of their...
Yeah... not everybody would "tell it like it is" with a sponsor that just got finished running a promo/contest (free game w/ 3 order #'s) with forum members. Good on ya!
:D
Monarch seems to have been having "issues" for quite some time now with long lead times with delivery & etc.
Which is unfortunate, as I've actually spoken with Sterling in connection with an issue that I had with the puchase experience with a Opty 165 back in Dec. I got the "family run...
I should have been more clear. I do most of my older games @ 1280x960 & above.
I have been playing a lot of FEAR lately & 1024x786 is about all my old 6800NU can hack with ANY eye candy at all with a decent FPS...
Yeah, I saw an eVGA Superclock (or whatever they call it) at the 'Egg for $319, their "regular" one is $299.
I suspect they'll come down quite a bit more by the end of the month - around $260 - $270. Then I may pull the trigger & wait to upgrade my entire system until after the dust settles...
I was thinking about some things that just might make the 7800GS a bit more compelling...
1) Prices have come down quite a bit already ~$300. $320 for the eVGA Superclock version @ 460/1350. Much more palatable than the $350 piddling BFG effort. I'd expect the price to slide a bit more in the...
"Outreach"?! - FUD Me!
That figures... can't say I'm surprised though. This "program" probably extends to some entire review sites as well.
Hearing about this adds insult to injury after the introduction of the laughable & overpriced product known as the 7800GS. A piece of kit that only...
Yeah... I already have a 6800 NU with unlocked hardware, so a 7800GS is a waste to me for what they're asking for it. Especially in light of the fact that it barely beats a 6800 Ultra.
At about $265 - $285 I might think about it. Not at $300+.
If they had just done the right thing and just...
I've been a follower of this site for some time now & refer to it's reviews often in making purchases.... Mostly because of fact that [H]ardocp doesn't seem to be in anyone's "pocket".
I fully agree with the premise at the beginning of the review - WTF was Nvidia thinking?!
The abject...
