I have a Virtual PC setup with Vista, and I am trying to get it to display 1920x1080 on my new monitor, but it only let's me go as high as 1600x1200. Any ideas on what I need to do to get it to display 1920x1080? I have set "Allow any screen resoultion" in the settings. Thanks.
Can you guys recommend a good OpenCL tutorial for coding on a Radeon GPU? I know AMD has some stuff on their site, but wanted to see if any of you guys know of a good beginner's guide. Just kind of curious of how OpenCL works and want to mess around with it. Thanks.
Having a couple weird power issues with my computer. One time it wouldn't wake from sleep. So I unplugged and plugged it back in and started up fine.
However, it did it again and wouldn't power on even after I unplugged it and plugged it back in. So I tried a different power cable. Still no...
I currently have a password lock when the computer wakes from screen saver. My biggest concern was for my external drives or someone just popping out my laptop hard drive and hooking it up externally to extract it's information. Does TrueCrypt impact IO performance at all?
Hey guys. What do you do to secure information on your computer in case it is stolen? Basically I want to prevent easy access to the information on my computer. Thanks.
Yea I kind of figured. Well going to go through the process of RMAing and hopefully that fixes the problem. I always thought Samsung made quality products, but I seem to have to send everything i get from them in for warranty. 2 hard drives and now a ODD.
Disc is not scratched. I have tried like 4 different discs. Have had this problem since I installed the drive. So I am wondering if my drive is bad, or if Blu Ray is just a PITA for everyone. DVDs play fine.
Hey guys, I have a Samsung SH-B123L blu ray drive. When I put in a blu ray disc, it takes about 5 minutes or so for the disc to get recognized by Windows. The blu-ray drive is trying to read the disc this entire time. I have the latest firmware. Is this normal?
Corsair has a great reputation and makes a quality product. And their prices are great too. It's nice to get a reliable product and a price that doesn't break the bank.
Ah, I didn't even think of setting it up to wake up. Good idea. I'll have to double check that he just closes the computer vs shutting it down. Thanks.
The thing about MSE full scan is if the person has a laptop it won't finish or it will take a long time too since the person typically closes the laptop when they are done.
Or do you guys just set up there laptops to not sleep? I am pretty sure MSE only starts the scan if the computer is on...
Hey guys, all of sudden Windows Media Center won't play any videos from Amazon Unbox. They still appear in the Video Library, but I got an error that says "Cannot play video. Windows Media Center cannot open the file.' This is for newly downloaded, and previously downloaded content. I have tried...
Hmm, ill have to try messing with powerdvd to get it to work. And also download media browser. Although I have had a few headaches just getting blu rays to play at all on my htpc. Not sure if it is the disc, drive or power dvd 9
I really like the idea of remoting in to someone's computer to fix it. It would save me a ton of hassle. But I am not going to pay for software to fix someone else's computer. And I typically have a policy where if it is broke, you bring it to me. So I typically don't have access to people's...
Awesome, thanks for the tips guys. Honestly, I reformatted my brother-in-laws laptop cause it was so bad. He is getting a new computer in like month, so I just installed MSE and not anything else, cause I was like, oh he should be fine for a month. WRONG! One week, and it was messed up so bad he...
Hey guys, I am sure you can relate to my current woes here. I have a family member who is just always getting malware on their computer. Getting tired of cleaning it up so frequently and I wanted to ask you guys what you do. Personall I install Chrome and MSE, and set MSE to a Full Scan once a...
No, pretty much not doing anything in post processing other than what is default. There could be some underlying issue, but I wouldn't know where to start. It's working and that is all I really care about. Only other thing I could think of is my PSU wasn't giving the CPU enough juice.
Do you set your HTPC to sleep or hibernate? I am partially curious because I had a hard drive give me issues, and I wonder if the starting up and stopping of the spinning multiple times a day greatly decreased it's life.
I am using the IGP. Radeon 4250. But I found the problem. Somehow Enforce Smooth Playback got turned off in the Graphic settings. Must've happened from a driver update or something. All looks good now. Thanks.
Hey Guys, I have the HTPC in my sig. For my TV Tuner I have a Hauppauge HVR 2250 internal PCI-E 1x card. I RMAed my 2TB HDD and got a new one today. However, my live TV runs choppy now. It ran choppy before installing new 2TB HDD and after I installed it. Any idea what is going on? This new HTPC...
So I am at the point where I think I am just going to RMA the drive. It's either that or the motherboard, but since the SSD reads and writes fine, I assume it is the HDD.
Ok so interesting. I decided to rerun those anti-spyware scan, and as part of that, I run CCleaner. The Anti-spyware scans found nothing as usual, and CCleaner removes a bunch of temp files, and fixes some things in the registry. Just ran a test and got an average of 45 MB/sec. Not sure if this...

Thanks for the help stewart. The Reads are as you say from HDTune. Max 141MB/Sec, Min 55MB/Sec, Average 109MB/sec.
I am using the latest AHCI and south bridge drivers from AMD. Definitely not pwned my malware. I know how to safely use the inter webz. Plus I have already ran scans, just in case...
