The PC-60 Plus II has a 120mm fan up front. The reason they cannot put a 120 in the back, which they have done with the PC-7, is that the removable motherboard tray is not wide enough in the back, and cannot be wider.
AMD hasn't had the need till now to lower prices. Supply and demand: people are willing to pay those prices for CPUs, so they have no need to lower prices.
The most significant part of the stories, besides the purchase of course, is that the links aren't to the Inquirer. :p
But seriously, the microprocessor industry is about to get very interesting.
8cm^2= 64 square cm
12cm^2= 144 square cm
Even more than double. I'd say the extra 4cm is worth it. It will satisfy her more too...because it won't be as loud. :D
I'm sure TN is working very hard to get huge sums of money so that she can upgrade to AM2*
*Not! She is working so that she can buy more AC stuff. (7950 GX2 + AC WB anyone?)
Thats what I thought as well. But then I went to the Lian Li website, and the dimensions for the PC-7/60 and the PC-6070 are different.
PC-7: 210x450x490
PC-6070: 210x490x525
Haha. I just realized that the only difference between the Koolance bay pump/res unit, and the Swiftech one, is 150 bux and the usual Koolance stuff up front.
As long as you use a good anti-corrosive mixture, you can use copper and aluminum parts together. Just make sure to flush your system a bit more often than you would otherwise.
This argument does not make sense. Yes, more heat gives the radiator more of an opportunity to cool off the liquid, but it does not inherently help temps.
I don't think they sell the waterblock by itself, though you could look on the Innovatek site. As an alternative, you could get the block anodized yourself.
If you drill out the aquatube fittings, then the bare aluminum will be exposed, rather than the anodized aluminum present. The risk of corrosion is much greater as a result.
A fassomatic would make things easier.
Hmm, well one could take two single slot blocks, bore holes on the opposite sides of the usual fittings, and be good to go. I think that is kindof what they were doing on the Alienware pc.
The setup looks fine, but as a possible alternative, you should know that Koolance is not the only single-slot GPU block maker. Aqua Computer does also make them, albeit for a higher cost (which I know is your main issue).
Did anyone besides me notice that this guy priced out an AC system through frozencpu? Because if he did, then he must know something everyone else doesnt.
:p
