Guys, need your help here I'm getting like a constant 17-20 FPS @1280x1024 All setting high and no AA -rig in signature below-...actually I'm so CPU chocked that lowering any settings makes nill difference to the FPS....so the question is: should I go dual or quad?
Help pls.
I think one 8800 GTS will perform approx same as your current setup in DX9 -not counting apps where SLI does not scale probably- You should either go 8800GTX or wait for next gen
HOLD ON HOLD ON.
The GTX will drop soon -maybe a couple of weeks- there are news that the Ultra will be re-priced around the $600 zone thus the GTX will have to drop..maybe around the $500 mark.
I run my GTS640 with a A64 @2.25 Ghz and I can clearly notice the CPU bottle neck specially in the DX9 Lost Planet demo where I average 17FPS in the cave section @ 1280x960 2xAA 16xAF. But for the OP I don't think that problem would be as much as an E4300 @ 2.5 Ghz is much much faster than my...
Well Huddy's claims just do not cut it, it's all well and dandy to point out that current method of fixed hardware AA resolve won't produce optimal results in certain circumstances such as HDR or AA being applied to shader effects but then if R600 is really targetting next gen games with its...
A 750 million trannies chip @ 2 Ghz  !!!!!
I think Hexus are trying to overshoot the INQ at the "how much BS we can put on one article" competition.
Maybe R600 will have a seperate shader domain clock ala G80?
Ok, here's a compilation of the most recent R600 rumors:
- 64 unified shaders 4 SIMD
- 512 bit mem interface, GDDR4.
- 16 ROPS
- 700 to 800 mhz GPU clock
- 80 nm Process
That's about it.
You're artifacting cuz of the insane GPU temps you've got, what you'll have to do is remove the heatsink and and carefully remove the old thermal paste off of the GPU and the RAM chips -use mild alcohol-, then re-apply thermal paste as thinly and evenly as possible then reattach the the...
Those vids are running on an X-fire system emulating DX10 in software, this is why there are FPS issues, I read that they were running at 1027x768 .
You will need a DX10 card to get the IQ in the vids with playable frame rates, the game will be scalable to run on DX9 card with lowered features.
In short: No.
For modern games you'll have to forget AA and probably AF too, any shader intensive eye candy will have to go, shadows may have to be turned down or off, HDR -if the game supports it- will be too intensive.
CPU/GPU solutions will target OEM manufacturers and I think that if they pull it off it'll spell very good things for AMD/ATI.
People seem concerned -rightly- that AMD might pull out the cash off ATi's R&D on the high end GPU sector to concentrate more on the integrated and CE stuff, I think...
Valve's subtle manner of communicating the story and letting the player find out things for himself is for me personally the biggest draw of the HL saga.
Nooh, Let me be clear here, due to your OC you will not find ANY dual core processor curently on the market -except maybe FX60 - that will give you any marked performance advantage on your curent setup. There are very few games that will take advantage of dual cores and it doesn't make a...
So what if you're CPU is capping the card any CPU currently on market won't do much better.
Just increase res and IQ, set driver to HI quality setting, turn off all optimizations, this should make you GPU limited again.
Regardless of ATi's IQ superiority, I think the GX2 has enough grunt to see you through any upcoming DX9 title at Hi-res with all bells whistles turned on -except HDR+AA- no matter how demanding its engine would be, even UT2007 shouldn't be a problem.
I think it is the safer choice currently...
Ok joking aside, the speculation about the G80 never ends here is the latest supposedly true info:
1- G80 is coming in August
2- Will be called the GeForce 8 series
3- The core will sport over 500 Million transistors !!!!!!!
4- Is the biggest architectural change for Nvidia since the NV40...
