The latest WHQL release drivers 301.42 will be perfectly fine. As for the new beta's, currently installed those (added a front case fan too) and was able to push my card to 1279 core and 7512 ram (+80, and +650). Ran Heaven and 3dmark 11 again a few times to verify as well as OC Scanner. 3dmark...
I'm not sure if the ram is tied into it or not but I did notice under benchmarks/games the card barely goes over say 111% but if you run OC Scanner/furmark it will push it to 145%
Did some quick tests this morning with OC Scanner, Heaven and 3dmark 11. Lowered the ram to 7512 and core is still 1269 (+ 80 core and +650 mem) and so far fully stable in all 3. Does anyone know or tried lowering the max TDP on these FTW's and achieved higher clocks? I'm going to play around...
Will do. I didnt notice any artifacting or anythng whle benching at that speed but if i tried higher i did. While reviewing the graphs from Precision both the core and ram stayed consistant. Im going to test further this week to see and let you know. So far very impressed.
Just picked up my 670 FTW this weekend :D. So far 1269 core with boost and 7752 mem. Going to try and reach the magic 1300, but so far anything over 1270 and Heaven crashes. Havent tried benchmarking higher on others, but as it stands 3dmark 11 P9863
I've had both the 510 and the 520 since each launch respectivaly. Have had zero issues with either and fully stand behind Intel ssd's. Having said that currently I have 2 520's in raid 0 and could not be happier. Havent noticed and performance issues or slowdowns, and never a blue screen.
Model Asus A7N8X Deluxe
Problem Bios would corrupt itself with memory timing adjustments
Turn around time 8 weeks x5
Was the problem fixed with the first RMA? Nope was a horrble bios issue that never got resolved. Even though this mb is old and dates back, it was the worst board i ever...
For me as an example, had a Logitech G7 which had 3 yr warranty. Mouse went diffective about the 2yr mark, had no original receipt, numbers on the bottom of the mouse were worn off, had 0 warranty or rma options due to this directly through Logitech. Last video card that I needed replaced was a...
Alot of manufacturers, if not all, require the original sales reciept for warranty purposes based on date of purchase. The item carries a warranty based on the date that you purchased it instead of the date it was made. If the item sat on the shelves for a year and it has a 2 year warranty...
Hey Chris
I actually just finished reading ALOT into this the last few weeks. I last week picked up the Intel 510 120GB for my Rampage 3 Gene. It has the same Marvel 9128 Sata 3 controller. The controller is a 6GB controller is limited to 1 single PCI-E lane resulting in 5GB/s theoretical max...
Take it from me who recently went from a Q6600 @3.6 to a i7-970. For day to day use or TF2 you wont really see a difference from what you have to an I7. Video card I too had the 4870 and went to the GTX 460, and that was a more noticeable investment. Combined with an itch and a good deal its the...
Thought I'd update. Reapplied the MX-4 and temps dropped nicely. I currently have it running at 4.2GHz 21*200 with 1.3v. Full load temps under IBT very high test are low 70's. (74/79/64/70/73/74). Very happy with the outcome.
Yeah for now I am ignoring prime95 unless otherwise directed otherwise. What really gripes me right now is that 2 of my buddies have the same chip on Sabertooth boards, both running @ 4.2 with 1.35 and 1.375v CPU, both under air coolers, True 120 and Silver Arrow and they are getting lower temps...
I'm going to write down the bios options and settings tonight and post them up as some settings I'm sure could be tweaked. Currently after messing around last night the CPU is at 20*200, 1.256v in bios, QPI 1.25v manually set the memory to 1603 and 7200 something for the quickpath. Loadline is...
I was running torture test for Prime. My method is 5 quick passes of IBT at 12 threads on standard. Then 20 passes at the same setting. Then I bump it to Very High instead of standard and run 5 passes there then 20-40. Once all checks out i run Prime torture test (blend I believe it is) and go...
Hey guys I need some help. Got myself up and running with a i7 970 with a Rampage 3 Gene, and 6GB of Kingston Hyper X 1600. Cooling it with a H70 w/ GT15's. Not new to overclocking and I've been reading post after post and guide after guide with this i7 method of overclocking and my head is...
I say it looks good. Personally I'd shoot for 3.5-3.6GHz. Here is a quick search I found on your CPU for settings used to achieve 3.8. Set your memory multiplier and give it a try if you want. I usually run 10-20 passes on high if my temps are good.
That's 100% it. The card is literally a few months old off the shelf. No other PCI cards and the card was moved to a new build and the speeds remained the same. Awesome card but slow bus effected my speeds. I hope this helps anyone else with similar issues or doubts of the DIR-655's performance...
So I found my bottleneck. My Intel Pro 1000 GT PCI card !! With my once again rebuilt WHS, the new onboard Atheros GB nic transfers 85MB/s steady among both PC's.
I actually just did a similar upgrade 3 weeks or so ago. Old Dell Optiplex 170L (similar to your case) gutted the inside, now with a Pentium D 930, Asus P5G41M-LE, 2GB DDR2 800, WD 640GB Black, DVD-RW. Reused the factory PS and that rear 92mm fan. Mounted a 80mm in the front. The front panel...
Ah that makes sense! Would the ICH7 controller be PCI or PCI-E based? The only thing is that the unit was previously a socket 478 P4 and the speed was the same. Upgraded the WHS and the only PCI card on the WHS is the nic but I do have an onboard Atheros PCI-E gigabit nic on that system as well...
This is where my knowledge might not be up to par. The onboard Atheros is PCI-E based which could very well be the issue. The Intel pro 1000 GT is a PCI card but unless I'm wrong the PCI bandwidth should be 125MB/s. As for the DIR-655 I've heard so many mixed things about the jumbo frames and it...
For a switch im just using the DIR-655's built in ports since the router is gigabit. The main PC has a velociraptor which is over 100 MB/s avg and the WHS has a 640 WD Black and a 1.5TB Seagate both which average over 100 MB/s for speeds. I replaced the OS drive and the hardware in the WHS and...
Network setup:
Main PC in sig
DIR-655
Custom WHS running a Intel Pro 1000 GT nic (Pentium D930, 2gb ram, WD 640 black, 1.5TB Seagate)
Both systems are setup to use jumbo frames, 9000 on the main pc and 9014 on the server (Intel setting). Turned off flow control on both which seemed to...
I started threading the retainer to the back bracket until the screws were just into the metal nuts. Installed the board back into the case, and then when I went to mount the pump into the retainer it was able to just slide under the hooks of the retainer without having to make contact with the...
it could be your FSB strap, could be your memory timings/quantity, and could be your board likes odd FSB speeds ex: 401 instead of 400. I had to work my Q6600 from 3.0 to 3.6 slowly. Check your core voltage on load to see if you are suffering from vdroop too.
Thanks! I tried pushing the old quad a little more. I got it to 3.6GHz with a small bump to voltage. Running it at 1.336V now and temps are the same idle, 69*C max core temp. Everest never reports the CPU over 55*C on IBT full load. So ideally this setup should never go over 45ish*C on a regular...
Yes it should be mounted as an intake but the hose length is usually the issue with mounting it in the front. Mid tower cases should be able to. I have a 120mm mounting spot in the front so it mounts up perfectly.
Ran some tests yesterday. Ambient room temp is 20*C. On idle my cpu is 21-22*C...
Just thought I'd share my install. I wanted to get a H70 but have it properly cooled as an intake without rear mounting it and blowing the warm air into the case. After looking over my case I found I had the distance to mount the rad and fans in push/pull in the front of my case leaving the...

Taiyo Yuden hands down. Will never trust Ridata's again after half a spindle turned out to be coasters.
I think 6 sata ports are nice but 4 should be doable even with raid considered. I think proper power phase, bios options, and importantly HSF mounting holes/clearance is important. I know a lot of the m-ITX guys would love to place a Corsair H50 on a board and not worry about interference around...
Actually there are at least 2 boards with USB 3.0 that I know of : GA-EP45T-USB3P, Asus P5P43TD/USB3. I would get either the Gigabyte board or P5Q Pro Turbo. None of those boards offer SLI officially.
mini-ITX or Micro-atx. I have done cutting edge and mainstream. It all boils down to me being able to overclock and not be limited to the board and I only run a single video card with no add on cards. So mini-itx is perfect! Price is not as much of a concern as size is. Love my current board :D
