I'm glad to see a new player. I still haven't entered the VR world - I somehow resisted the urge to purchase a Rift or Vive (so far). Heck, I was at Microcenter a while back and they had an open box Vive with a reduced price.
I grabbed it - but decided to put it down and walk away...
I bought some AMD around 18 a while back - but it was my initial purchase some not a lot of shares. I was hoping on picking up more as it fell down to 16ish....got that wrong :)
I'm still happy to see the nice jump. I'm watching for additional pullbacks. I think AMD might have other good...
I used to live in a rural area that was about 45 minutes from what a lot of people would call civilization. I punched in my old address - no DSL or anything. Dial up still (!). One of the reasons I had to move.
Looks like a decent setup. I still haven't entered the VR world.
I'm waiting on a few things: Steam announcement (rumor of their own hardware), Vive updates, and my system is on the edge of being VR capable.
The Atari VCS was my first console - I had Combat, Space Invaders and Missile Command. That's all I had for about 3-4 months. Later, Asteroids and Yars Revenge (loved that game) entered my collection. At some point, I got Star Raiders (not as good as the Atari 400/800 version my friend had)...
I thought the era of 3DFx was an awesome time to be on the PC. I had a Monster 3D then upgraded to two Monster 2's in SLI. (Looking back, I can't remember how I could afford this as I was in college...)
I saw Captain Marvel this weekend with my wife. We both thought it was ok. I thought she was overpowered.
I am not versed in the original Captain Marvel comic book stories (except it was a dude, that part doesn't bother me.) I'm looking forward to Endgame - I'd like to see a conclusion...
The company I work for sponsors a program that teaches basic IT skills to low income people (aka inner city). I know one of the skills they focus on is QA testing.
A recent success story: a lady went through the program and came out making $15 an hour (not that great where I live). At...
My main system is a 2600k, 16 gb ram, and a 970 GPU. I think it's going on 8 years old? I might upgrade this year - but honestly, I'm not in a hurry and might not get around to it. I mostly play older games or indies (Nuclear Throne, Graveyard Keeper, Stardew Valley etc). Since a lot of the...
This market is too crowded. I like having choice - but I only have so much free time I will spend on watching TV (and am only willing to spend a certain amount of money)
I was very interested in the original idea of the game - I was close to buying it when it initially launched. However, I have guidelines: never buy a game on launch (unless you really want it). Wait about 6 months for a Steam sale and the inevitable stability patches.
For this game, I am...
I've enjoyed the Marvel movies. I'm looking forward to this if only to conclude this story line.
I would have liked to see several more stand-alone Captain America movies. However, I believe Chris Evans is kind of burnt-out on the role and wants to direct. I thought he was a great Steve...
I couldn't do it. My life is in a loop of Dr. John's "Right place wrong time". (Plus I'll admit, I don't have seven balls per side....I salute these guys)
I typically like games made by indies or smaller development shops. These usually have much smaller teams and don't have as much management-crap to get in the way. However, I'm sure these teams can be stressful trying to make payroll at times.
I used to own a Turismo. I was driving on the interstate one day and the accelerator got stuck. The brakes didn't really help - I ended up stomping on the accelerator to "unstick" it. They eventually issued a factor recall for some part. That care should have been called the Turdismo...just...
I'm going to see it next weekend with the wife. It's the first movie we have watched since Aquaman. I thought Aquaman was ho-hom - not bad, but no desire to watch it again.
We'll see on Captain Marvel...
I've been as cashless-as-possible for at least the last 10 years? There are still some places that don't except credit card payment. The bus system I use is one (although I normally have a bus pass, but sometimes its expired or I forget it).
A side effect of no cash. When panhandlers approach...
This publisher has a pretty good score card with me (so far). They are also on what I'd call the independent side (ie not slaves to EA, Activision, etc). I'm looking forward to "when its ready".
Yes - kids change everything. Mine are older now and no longer watch Disney stuff. I'm off the hook.
When they were younger, this would have been awesome. We had a lot of DVD's back in the day. My kids watched these a lot. (Hard to remember, but this was before Plex was even a thing...)
AMD stock needs a bump. Let's get these chips on the market generating some revenue soon.
BTW - I saw that Microcenter had the 2700X for $270 (might have been with a mobo bundle). That's hard to resist! Must wait for new chips...
This game brings back a lot of memories. My friends & I used to play either this or C&C all the time on LAN. College days...
I also had to support a convention in Las Vegas back in the late 90's/early 2000's. I was at the Mandalay Bay for 2.5 weeks. For the record, I don't gamble, don't...
Blizzard died years ago. RIP. Not sure what the last Blizzard game I really enjoyed - either Diablo 2 or Warcraft 3? I never got into the Starcraft series - wife and I had babies at the time, so had other priorities. (Should go back and revisit...)
Diablo 3? Meh. I played through and found...
I've worked in IT most of my adult life. There have always been a few women, but always the minority. I reflect back to my days in college - how many women were in my computer science classes? I can only recall a few. (I felt sorry for the few - it was probably like being a light bulb...
I had a teacher in 9th grade that told us longways works best. I don't think he liked us that much. Looking back, I don't recall anything happening to that teacher at all. (This was in the 80's).
I'm excited about the new CPU's on the way. I feel like the price for these chips (if stays close) is pretty good. I paid $1000 for an Pentium 90 way back in the day...compared to this, CPU prices have dropped a lot.
Now, 8 or 16C...hmm.
This article is stupid. I pay for the 4 user account in my house as I have a wife and 2 kids. We like to watch different shows/movies. Fast forward a few years when my kids might be in college - I'm find with them using my Netflix account. This is not piracy and not consumer any additional...
I've got a 2600k system and am starting to buy parts for a system upgrade. I have a new case, PSU, and a Samsung ssd. I'm budgeting up to $400 for a GPU. I'd like to see some better pricing before I pull any trigger.
My new favorite grocery store is Aldi. I'm saving about 20-30% a week on groceries by shopping here. Things that take getting used to:
1. Using non-name brands. Aldi has some brands you've heard of, but the rest are "stored brands". Most of the products are comparable to what you are used...
For the non-tech people I deal with (aka friends and family that want free tech support), I think current operating systems are too complicated and overkill for what they need. One moved to a Chrome OS system - my life became so much easier. They wanted to access the web and occasionally write...
