I have a chance to pick up a slightly used 9600gso for the 'Cheap Bastard', but I'm slightly confused by them. This card is an eVGA 512MB model, but I'm unsure of the differences between the 512MB cards and the 384/768MB cards. Can anyone point me towards a review of the 512MB model? If not...
I have an E5200 with a VID of 1.225V that I've overclocked to 4.0Ghz at 1.5V (CPU-Z reports 1.488V). Load temps never go above 60C.
So, the question is - how much does increasing the voltage to this amount affect the lifespan of the CPU? Is this something you really need to worry about?
I'm looking to do a really cheap upgrade from my S939 system - the total budget is $250 (Canadian). So far I've selected the E5200 processor ($108) and 2GB of Kingston DDR2/667 RAM ($28) for a total of $156 - 13% sales tax must also be factored in. A few dollars here or there doesn't make a...
Anandtech has put up a review of several uATX motherboards, including the P5Q-EM. Since there seems to be a lot of questions but very few answers about this board (note that even this is not a 'full' review) I've decided to post the link here...
My main rig died over the weekend, so I'm in the process of getting the trusty old Sempron up and running until I can get a new PC. The processor is a Sempron 3100+ @ 2.3Ghz and an ASUS K8NE-Deluxe board that uses the nForce3 250 chipset.
I've installed two WD 25000KS drives on the nVidia...
Now that autumn is here, it's time to kick my 3 year old A64 PC out the door as it's no longer holding up its end of the relationship (especially since we met Photoshop). We've had a great run, but I've had my eye on something smaller and faster, so that leads to my question - does anyone here...
I starting to spec out a new rig, which will most likely contain an Intel quad core CPU (my AMD years have come to a close). So, I'm wondering if it's really worth while to upgrade the cooler that comes in the box - I'm currently thinking that it's not. If it is still a good purchase decision...
Apparently Sony isn't happy with it's position in LCD TV market share, so it's going to start a price war, with initial cuts on some models of 25%. All of the others (Sharp, Samsung, etc) are going to follow suit. So, if you're looking to buy a new TV, you may want to wait...
...and will not be replaced. A major tech company without a CTO? What does this mean for ATI?

Perhaps someone here can help me with this... I'm trying to hook up the digital coax output to a A/V reciever, but the output doesn't seem to be active. I've looked in the M-Audio control panel and the Sounds and Audio Devices applet in Control Panel but there isn't an option for it anywhere...
