I forgot all about this back when we were doing the testing.
Anything is possible with software scaling... they could quad-pixel it, or do weak/strong interpolation... options to adjust these settings yourself!
But if it's anything like everything else,
the limitless possibilities of software...
At least it's only resized because your comp gets the new resolution right... mine sticks at 800x600 or something when I bring it back. I just leave it in standby all the time now.
That's how I understand it anyway. Even if you buy secondhand, the warranty becomes yours because the service tag IS the warranty.
I just didn't want to get an open box or something like that, that is why the Ebay sellers that go straight through Dell appealed to me. Exact same experience...
Went straight to me. The Ebay sellers act as a reseller, so as I understand it, completely legit. The box has his name on the billing, my name on the shipping/recipient.
It isn't a refurb, no dead pixels, etc. You wait in line like everyone else for the monitor to be built and shipped out by...
Yes, this is exactly what I did... my seller (cmcredding) was excellent in every way, and the box has my name on it as the recipient.
Remember to use Bing Cashback, if you aren't factoring that in already. Mine was $825 after cashback, but I paid $70 more for the 5yr warranty.
I know, I didn't expect it either. Overclocked 860 and 5850. It has a lot to do with the game though, of course. Not much can be said about this. One thing I will mention though... you won't need AA so much with such fine pixels. So if you do have trouble running it, disabling AA entirely...
Yeah, the demand is not as bad as people make it think... also run BFBC2 at full res. Haven't had much/any trouble yet, but I've been slacking on PC games lately.
Finally, a good place!
So far I've just been using high-res picture(s) of my cat from my camera, the best way I found to take advantage of the 2560 until now.
Sloppy paperwork is one thing (I know at least a couple years ago paper+accessory placement was by hand) but cardboard supports? Wow... I'd call Dell and ask them.
You can [quadruple them] from 720p, but the U2711 does not, see the earlier pages on all that. I know my sentence used a bad example, but the point I was trying to make is, the display always opts for complicated scaling.
...and I got used to the text size within a day. To the point of I feel...
The best way, and I'm thinking about buying the $50 Bluray drive on Mwave for just this reason. Either way though, something will be upconverting it to 1440p, as even the U2711 hardware scaler seems to try to add detail instead of just doubling pixels (see pictures from a couple pages back).
As far as the "vs Bluray on a 1080 monitor", it will be personal preference, and I'll explain why:
Some people like terms like "pixel mapped" and whatnot,
but others like things like upscaled DVDs.
Technically those two schools of thought are contradictory.
Obviously, with this monitor's "smart...
This does not happen to me every time I turn mine off, but about half the time when leaving it off overnight... goes to the same res too, 1024x768.
Dell U2711 by the way.
Probably turn into refurbs. But yeah, 2560x1440 pixels or not, I have not settled for a device with dead/stuck pixels ever... I won't start when it's time to pay this much.
I don't know if it is my monitor or not, but it has only ever happened with this one...
When I wake up and turn on my monitor (computer was fully on all night), the resolution is set to 1024x768. I try to change it to 2560x1440 and it will not even work, have to restart the computer. This ONLY...
For the color distortion, is it still there when you move your head around? Just keep in mind viewing angle at the corners (which having owned my first IPS, is still problematic if you are picky, yet nowhere near as bad as TN).
Before I start to get some buyer's remorse...
How do you guys think this compares to the NEC 3090WQXi?
NEC selling refurbs at $1000 was good enough to make me wonder... but someone that just bought three got them for $700 each because "he had to wait so long" (6 weeks mind you, but they were...
I don't understand...
If you had a 1.3+ spec computer and a 1.3+ spec cable, then the DVI end of the cable should also be able to handle the signal... and if the monitor has no issues with DVI... why not?
I just realized you were describing why it would not work for me. I think the main...
Hold on, I'll just get out my laptop with HDMI and try it.
EDIT
Okay, it does look like it can only handle 1920x1080 over HDMI.
I tried with my laptop, and 1920x1080 was the max it would let me set. I know the laptop does at least 1920x1200...
In disbelief, I pulled out my DVI-HDMI cable to...
Everyone complains about the stand! It doesn't rotate, but I love having something that is finally rectangular, not some circley crap.
Finally some real input lag testing (kind of disappoints me honestly... is 30 extra ms of input lag almost like having +30 ping?), yet still no mention of the...
Yeah, I know it's fake and all to have crazy colors... but I still think Adobe RGB setting with unmodified software is a pretty good balance. Just a bit more zazz than sRGB.
Windows really needs proper (as in, not JUST text) DPI scaling, like everyone keeps saying they will do...
It seems like SUCH a simple process. Images and stuff would look bad, but at least it wouldn't mess up formatting and leave tiny buttons like it currently does.
I always see one side darker or lighter than the other, even if just because of the backlight.
Also, on such a large/wide monitor, you see a lot of color changes at the corners/sides.
For instance, on a black screen, the pink of the left side is more noticeable than the green of the right side...
