Clean wiped drivers, reinstalled.
I'm getting ~175 FPS in WoW standing still looking at a wall without a video up.
I turn the video on, tab back into the game without minimizing/closing video, my FPS drops to ~145.
Normal? I don't understand a video cards logic. Should a video card only be...
I took the 610 out, and only using the 980 Ti with 1 monitor.
My FPS in game are still dropping like 40-50 FPS with a video running in the background. That's not working as intended is it?
Good suggestions crimson, I've raised a ticket with the nVidia rep. They couldn't figure it out either so they had it escalated.
I've ran GPU-Z and logged some information to see what happens when I'm gaming with a video, and gaming without.
Essentially three things changed, when I turned...
They are not, I have tried everything without any luck.
I think I'm going to just replace one of the monitors with one of the new 1440p 144hz IPS soon anyway.
Edit: New discovery.
Using a single monitor connected to the 980 Ti. If I have a browser up, twitch/youtube up and running, and tab...
I've recently built a new rig, and I'm having severe FPS drops on my main monitor while I pull up anything on a browser on my second monitor.
Both of my monitors are DVI only (overclockable version with single input) Both are running at 96hz via dual link DVI. The MSI 980 Ti only has one, so...
Dear readers,
I find myself using my computer more and more as of lately. It's something I enjoy and where I spend the majority of my free time (this is true for the past 15 years of my life). With that being said, it's one of the few places I like to indulge and treat myself. I consider it...
Just figured I'd update everyone on my thread, I've made a few purchases:

I just picked up a HX750 for $126 shipped, and it has a $20 MIR on Newegg right now.
What do you guys think of the Corsair 500R? I can pick it up from my local CompUSA for $109. If I can find a good deal on a 650D that's probably my #1 right now, but they don't seem to be on sale anywhere or...
Any insight on modular power supplies? I'd like to stick to that route. The obvious choice is HX750 and HX850, sometimes the 850 is even cheaper from a coupon and such. 850HX is 135 after MIR on the Egg.
That was my thought process on the video card. My concern is the HX650 won't be enough to power everything and two 6950's if I did decide to crossfire. Might I be better giving myself more headroom from the get go? I'd say there is probably only a 30% chance that I go for Crossfire.
With the...
As of right now, I will only be gaming on one monitor, however if it's practical I'd like to have the future possibility of gaming on all 3.
Noted.
The 500R, 650D, and P280 seem to be pretty good cases. I didn't want to spend more than $150ish on a case, and I don't like fancy bling LEDs...
This computer will be in a centralized location with a Home Theater/Speaker setup. My goal is to have fully functioning 3 monitor PC, with a feed from the PC to my receiver/TV to have a forth display which is likely to be either a movie, or another internet stream etc. Something along the lines...
1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
Web, Gaming, Movies, Streams, Music, Light Photoshop/Video editing.
2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
I'd like to keep this as most bang for budget as possible, I'll be happy with 97% performance...
Enough info to get the answers you need? You're building a gaming computer, yet we don't even know what resolution you'll be playing at. Not to mention the games you'll be playing, and graphics settings you'd like to accomplish. How many monitors? Triple monitor setup? This is all relevant...
Mizugori,
If you took a minute to look through every previous build thread, there is a reason the same questions are asked of each person before seeking advice. You are no different and not special. It's not for fun, if you want to maximize your build, there are constraints and train of...
I tend to agree with your statement on the waiting game.
I guess to follow up, my current computer IS NOT sufficient to play at the quality and graphics I'm interested in. Which means either a upgrade or a new rig is going to have to happen, which has lead me to some of my original thoughts as...
Hello everyone,
Why am I here today?
Well I find myself in the middle of a decision that I've been in struggle with for a few weeks. I'm hoping that with some help from everyone I will have a more clear idea of where to go from here.
What exactly is my concern?
Well below is my...
I'm in similar shoes as yourself, and I'm going for option 2.5, I'm gonna wait a bit till Ivy comes out and see how that affects Sandy Bridge prices, and I'll be able to evaluate the Ivy Bridge chips themselves. From what I've gathered, there will be a decent margin in performance difference.
I've been a long time loyal Corsair user. I've always been a fan of their PSU's and cases and will continue to do so. Whether it's reliability, attention to detail, or affordable they are my go to brand.
1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
This HTPC will be hooked up to my big screen, receiver (HDMI), and speakers home theater. I plan to watch streams of all kinds, listen to my music collection/online music, rip blu-rays onto HDD and play them back at a...
Hi All,
I wanted to bring some theory discussion to the table, because as much as I like to budget, plan, and build new computers - I also like to think about them (I guess that confirms my nerdiness).
Everyone I hope knows what the law of diminishing returns is, if not, you will by the...
