with regards to the OP's original question, I would say that you should figure out which group of friends you'd rather play with. Obviously, you can't have both. In the end, it's all about having a good time, isn't it?
When you run it in windowed mode, can you change the resolution in video options? I would guess that it would resize the window as you increase the resolution.
I'd guess that you may have a bad cd or even a bad cd drive. Try starting up while holding D. I think that the hardware test.
After I get to the blue screen, in about a minute, it'll ask me to choose a language.

i've been doing some research on the dothan and turion. i know there's 2 flavors of turions, 25w and 35w. dothans have a tdp of 27w.
now, according to this review, the dothan's 27w tdp is "maximum power dissipated at 75% of the maximum power for a given frequency."
i was wondering if...

usually the 939 mb will have 4 slots for dual channel becuz you will need 2+2 (RAM config) for it to be dual channel.
if i remember correctly, its usually the skt 754s that have 3 RAM slots becuz they only support single channel.
and for the skt A, the last mb i had for that was a DFI...
for performance and overclockability (is that even a word??), its best to go 2x1gb. going 4x512mb will force you to go to 2T on the A64s.
from a personal experience, i went to 2x1gb and havent looked back. :D
thanks Eclipse.

most motherboards that incorporate both an AGP+PCIe slot use the PCI bus as an AGP slot which essentially defeats the purpose of having an AGP slot.
so far, the ASRock mb is only mb with both a 16xPCIe and a 8xAGP. that is one of the main reasons i was interested in this mb.
the main...
here's a suggestion on upgrade options.
if u plan on going 939, i'd recommend the ASRock 939Dual-SATA2
It allows you to use current 939 chips, your ram, and your 6800gt. whenever you plan to upgrade to PCIe, it allows for that also. the mb also has a future cpu slot, which may be used...
once AMD's Fab 36 comes online, production shouldnt be too big of a deal anymore. at the moment, their production capacity may be too low to handle the demands of major OEMs.
if i remember correctly, the performance of the AthlonXP and the Northwoods were very close. Intel got ahead once they released the 'C' versions which incorporated HT and a 800mhz fsb.
