    C++ on different platforms

    Is it possible to write a C++ program such that the skeleton is identical cross-platform and any OS-dependent code is contained within functions? Or is this the wrong way to do it? The main targets would be Win 7 and recent Linux distros like Ubuntu 11, with support for both 32bit and 64bit.
