Question: Is it possible to upgrade a RAID drive set (currently configured as RAID 6) with larger drives by replacing 1 drive at a time (and rebuilding), and eventually end up with a RAID array of increased size WITHOUT data loss?
My setup is as follows:
RAID Controller: Areca ARC-1280ML...
What is the difference between the Areca 1680D-IX series cards and the 1680i/lp/x/ixl/ix cards? The Areca website has good information on the i/lp/x/ixl/ix line of cards - chip specs, ports, connectors, etc., but I can't seem to find ANY information on the 1680D series cards. Yet, I have come...
I have managed to run out of space again on my file server so I'm looking to 'upgrade' very soon. In fact, I went ahead and purchased 8 x HITACHI Deskstar HD32000's yesterday. Couldn't pass up on the $99 after rebate deal. :D But I'm still researching/deciding on how to exactly attach them to...
I recently upgraded from an Audigy 2 card to the SB X-fi (extreme music version) and I'm having problems with a static type noise coming from the speakers. It should be noted that I hear this noise whenever there is light to heavy access on my boot drive, which is a 15k rpm scsi drive. In...
I bought a soundblaster x-fi card today and installed it. I then tried to run battlefield 2 and it crashed when I tried to choose the x-fi for audio. After finding some new drivers, I got that taken care of. But now, the game crashes mid game.. so I did some more searches and it seems that...

Here's the pic:
I had a pair of these (serial number 000000014 :D ) that went bad on me. I RMA'ed those and got the new ones pictured above. I didn't even take them out of the packaging. Still brand new from Corsair. It's the kind with the LED's that light up when used. For...
I ordered an evga 7800 gt co card from zip zoom fly.. i get it today, it's the non co version. To top it off, the SECOND 7800 gt co card i ordered from zzf a couple days after the first one (for SLI of course) hasn't shipped after a full day of being ordered. SIGH.
I'm sticking to newegg...

I tried searching the hardforums and google several times to no avail. I even checked the quite-lacking Lian-li webpage. What the heck is the difference between the regular v1000 and the v1000 plus model? It looks the same...

I plan to buy an Enermax Noisetaker 375W power supply : http://www.cluboc.net/reviews/power/enermax/eg375p-ve/
Now, I will not be using this with a motherboard. Instead, I will hook up a switch to the ON pin on the atx connector to turn it on manually and use it to power 12 HDD's and a...
I'm in the process of building an external chassis to house 12 - 7200rpm drives. (WD3200JD's) WD's website shows a usage of 16.6 watts per drive during read and write. So 16.6 x 12 = 199.2. I purchased some AT power supplies (for the switch and easy to turn on) for this project. They are 250...
