use netplwiz (run>netplwiz) to set your password as whatever you changed it to, it should accept the pin to do so. thats how i have to do it as i have it set to auto-login.

yes. since you just reloaded, if you have another known good spare drive, try reinstalling on that, even if it is just for testing...
also, if you are reloading, you should disconnect all those extra drives so stupid windows doesnt put the bootloader randomly on to one of them...
