The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake

Beat the Deku Tree dungeon. Man this game is a blast. I’ve not played Ocarina of Time since I was in middle school. They’ve nailed it imo. The graphics are fantastic. Not blurry at all! It’s certainly not 4k but even on my 77” oled it looks great! The gameplay is amazing. Nintendo pulled this off. I know what I’ll be spending my weekend on.
Thats my thoughts as well, I played for a bit last night, got through the Deku tree and out into the ranch before I saved and shut it down. Game runs amazing and looks really good on my Oled, very excited to keep playing this weekend.

I know alot of people loved botw and totk but personally all the extra mechanics like weapon durability and food/cooking take away from the Zelda experiance to me and make me dislike those games. Its really nice to go back to playing a 3D zelda that is just dungeon solving and sword swinging without them being in there as an extra nuisance.

I agree. Hated the BotW games for thr same reason. Also the fact BotW didn't really have dungeons.

Not to mention the lack of actual dungeons. Sorry but the Shrines don't cut it. I don't hate BotW (haven't played TotK yet but I keep inching closer to finally starting it), but I completely agree with you, and I know exactly what you mean. I had essentially the same feelings when I played Twilight Princess for the 2nd time (using the Wii U remaster) a few years ago, and when I finally returned to Ocarina of Time and did a 2nd run last year (using the native PC port from decomp). It's weird cuz I didn't like WW the first time around on GCN, but when I played through it again with the Wii U remaster a few years ago I had a blast with it (the Swift Sail helps a lot!). I also played Skyward Sword for the first time back in 2023 (using the Switch version with its normal non-motion controls). And last year I finally beat Majora's Mask (I used the native PC port from decomp). Playing all of these games again within the last several years reminded me of the stuff I really enjoyed about 3D Zelda games before BotW showed up. And that's making me look forward to when I finally do get to play this 2nd remake of Ocarina of Time.

Also the fact BotW didn't really have dungeons.
Yupz!

Our stock OOS this morning Asian guy who thought I worked in electronics was looking for the Zelda themed Switch 2.

I didn't dislike BOTW and TOTK but you're right, they don't really feel like Zelda games as much.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake Now Runs at 60 FPS on PC Emulators Lichii and Eglantine

DSOGaming reports that the Lichii emulator has fixed most of the remake’s visual issues in a single day, with the starting area and the Great Deku Tree now running at 60 FPS rather than the 20-30 FPS of launch day...one user on X went further, describing the latest build as running at a stable 4K 60 FPS with clear visuals, no bloom problem, no artifacts, and no slow motion, with only minor stutters and freezing left...

I enjoyed BOTW but I noped out of TOTK from all the building nonsense, put probably 15 hours in it and didn’t enjoy one of em.

This OoT remake however is phenomenal. I noticed the shimmering another member mentioned in a few posts up but other than that it looks so good.

Just made it to Zora Domain and called it quits for the day, really excited to continue!

This game absolutely looks amazing.

Got mine yesterday and played for several hours, got to the Forest Temple. Great game, touches on nostalgia but also seems improved for modern game mechanics.

I got the original for Christmas 1998 and played it so long that the N64 froze from overheating (I think).

“Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake Now Boots on Jailbroken PS5 and iPhone 17 Pro Max

by DrUsmanSaleem Today, 12:55 Discuss (4 Comments)
Nintendo's Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake launched on Switch 2 on November 5, and it is already running on a jailbroken PlayStation 5 and an iPhone. On PS5, Vampinity posted results in the GitHub repository for EglantinePS5, a PS5 port of a Switch emulator based on Eden. On firmware 12.40, the game loads a save, and Link can walk out of his house into Kokiri Forest at roughly 15 to 20 FPS. However, it runs out of memory a couple of minutes in, with heavy white fog and missing geometry in the forest. Vampinity calls it "nowhere near playable" and says Claude wrote the patches. Apparently, much of the shader work was borrowed from forks of Lichii, the emulator that got the remake running on PC on launch day.

The iPhone port comes from developer Joe Jiang, who showed Kokiri Forest running on an iPhone 17 Pro Max. According to Jiang, memory was the hardest part, since the game wants about 9 GB while a single iPhone app is capped at 8,192 MB. He claims his approach keeps quality intact and peaks at just 3.4 GB when loading scenes. Apparently, the method isn't specific to Ocarina, and Jiang says it could bring any Switch or Switch 2 game to iOS, iPadOS, Apple TV, Android, and HarmonyOS. He hasn't released it yet, but it isn't the first Switch 2 game on iPhone. Mario Kart World booted on one shortly after the console's first jailbreak went public. The PS5 port, meanwhile, needs the Relapse jailbreak, which covers firmware 7.00 through 13.60. Neither is a practical way to play the game yet, but I'm sure Nintendo isn't too happy about the remake breaking containment this quickly.“
